Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Program Coordinator provides the management and coordination of activities related to the College’s State of Michigan Workforce Plan grant-funded Bruin Engineering Engagement Program (BEEP). Specifically, this programming supports MEDC pillars for opportunity and supporting business and entrepreneurial growth through talent solutions. Due to increased demand for a skilled workforce in the manufacturing sector in our region, this grant centers around outreach and education for the community, specifically focusing on elementary and secondary teachers, students, and their parents about the opportunities and trainings for advanced manufacturing and pre-engineering careers.
The WFS-BEEP Program Coordinator provides support and oversight to the various Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) grant-funded outreach activities, including but not limited to educator workshops, a pre-engineering career pipeline program in local middle and high schools, work-based learning for high schoolers, the marketing of manufacturing career pathways, and further support and engagement with annual Manufacturing Day for local k-12 students.
The Program Coordinator provides administrative support in the development and delivery of the project as it relates to outreach, recruitment, and intake, articulation, curriculum development and alignment to industry-recognized credentials, and work-based learning agreements, stakeholder and employer engagement, and grant documentation and compliance. This position is responsible for collecting data and preparing progress and outcomes reports, as required by the grant Scope of Work. They serve a very important delivery role in the College’s BEEP initiative, which expands outreach and awareness programs, feeding a pipeline into in-demand career sectors in our region.
Please note that this is a temporary grant-funded position through June 30, 2026.
Kellogg Community College is located in Battle Creek, Michigan, a community of approximately 54,000 people. Leisure activities, natural resources and learning opportunities provide a foundation for residents. Located along the I-94 interstate, Battle Creek is within 30 minutes of Kalamazoo, 60 minutes of Lansing and Grand Rapids and within three hours of Detroit, Chicago and Indianapolis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Leadership, Management, Education, Business, or other related areas of study, obtained from an accredited college or university.
- Three to five (3-5) years of experience in Education, Workforce Development, and/or Program Management.
- Must be able to travel independently by car to sites within service area.
DESCRIPTION
- Coordinate systems and process so that they align with department and college policies and meet the outcome measures as prescribed in the grant Scope of Work.
- Manage and coordinate important grant deliverables prescribed in the Scope of Work; including but not limited to outreach, presentation development, teacher training materials, alignment to industry-recognized credentials, and work-based learning agreements, stakeholder and employer engagement, and grant documentation and compliance.
- Ensure all necessary promotional resources are encumbered to support potential student, parent and teacher understanding and awareness, effective and efficient delivery of collateral, student engagement, and employer satisfaction and return on investment.
- Foster collaborative relationships across the College and leverage institutional resources to support the work of the department and the grant.
- Ensure site compliance of the consortium-wide student information system (SIS) developed by contracted provider, and by maintain data quality and reporting standards.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of informational materials for both traditional and electronic distribution that are inclusive of and encourage a diverse student population.
- Engage with college leaders in strategic planning and ensure grant activities are aligned with the College’s strategic initiatives.
- Provide service to the College through participation on various committees and workgroups.
DESCRIPTION
- Coordinate, schedule, and secure adjunct faculty resources for educator and student instructional delivery.
- Assist Account Manager with recruiting, interviewing, and placing adjunct faculty/contractors for teacher education and student career exploration programs.
- Coordinate activities and efforts so that instructional delivery aligns with the grant program outcomes.
- Monitor and assess performance of adjunct faculty and contracted providers of instruction as it relates to grant outcomes, compliance, and teacher/student awareness and engagement.
DESCRIPTION
- Under the direction of the Account Manager, prepare, analyze, and submit frequent progress and outcome reports for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), third-party evaluation staff, and other relevant entities/grant funders/partners that have a role in grant outcomes or fiduciary interests.
- Track budget and grant expenditures for compliance and planning.
- Prepare and analyze fiscal and budgetary reports for executive administration.
DESCRIPTION
- Coordinate, maintain, and update instructional resources for k-12 initiatives for both teachers and students.
- Continually assess community needs for knowledge, skill, and competency changes that translate to creative and innovative program outcomes and instructional delivery models where offerings and services can meet each unique need.
- Gather and report data on marketing and outreach outcomes.
- Monitor and report program participation rates and feedback.
- Allow flexible delivery by adjusting the schedule and delivery of program offerings based on the needs of external partners.
- Coordinate collaboration opportunities with k-12 partners, faculty and staff, employers, and public workforce partners to conduct ongoing assessments to include a study of recent job openings, labor market projections and current skills and knowledge in-demand by employers.
- Screen and secure resources (part-time, full-time, or contracted provider) to develop new or revise existing offerings and materials according to changes in the program or external forces.
- Coordinate and embed various types of work-based learning opportunities (job shadowing, employer mentoring, company tours, guest lecturers, etc.) into program curriculum that is customized to student profile, employer criteria, or grant requirements as prescribed in the applicable Scope of Work.
- In collaboration with Marketing and Communications team, develop intentional marketing plan to promote grant program offerings.
- Implement multi-faceted approach to build awareness and support through various means, including, but not limited to college branding; meaningful deliverables; and timely, regular, and relevant messaging.

- Continually engage with college administrators and external stakeholders to provide equity and access to teacher training, outreach activities, and BEEP programs.

- Engage with existing and potential partners on a local and state level to advance the mission of the College, most specifically related to the work of the department.
- Represent the College at community events and activities such as: job fairs, opportunity fairs, and community resource events.
- Present to external stakeholders and grant partners on work related to the department and the MEDC grant initiative.
- Present and share workforce development best practices around grant program activities, strategies, and outcomes with local workforce partners.
- Engage in professional development opportunities offered by community partners.
- Collaborate with core workforce provider partners and provide opportunities for best practice sharing as it relates to grant outcomes, outreach and recruitment, curriculum, instructional/informational delivery, and facility tours.
- Engage with college administrators, faculty, and other internal and external stakeholders on project teams related to educational partnerships, student outreach, success, completion, and employment.
