Shift Type: Weekly rotating schedule 7:00 AM -3:00 PM & 10:00 AM-6:00 PM
Total Hours Per Day: 8
Education: Registration with the College of ECE (RECE) is required for this position
Salary: $69 748.08 * annual salary based on 40 hour work week*

Responsibilities:
- Following the Ministry of Education licensed requirements as per the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
- Leading a team of educators and staff within the child care centre to meet PLASP’s mission and vision as well as following all internal policies and procedures to comply or exceed Ministry of Education standards.
- Planning, developing and implementing stimulating and developmentally appropriate activities for children, following the Ministry of Education’s How does Learning Happen? (HDLH?) Ontario’s pedagogy for the early years and PLASP standards.
- Using the High Scope philosophy, lead children through a plan/do/review sequence within an active learning, play based approach
- Provides leadership, support, supervision, training and evaluation to other staff members, students on placement and volunteers.
- Establishes and maintains a safe, warm and caring environment in which a high quality early learning and child care program can operate.
- Oversees the planning, development and implementation of a program of stimulating activities for young children which will promote their physical, social, emotional intellectual well-being as described in Program Administration Manual.
- Ensures that each child’s parents are spoken with regularly about their child’s activities at the centre.
- Ensures that an adequate inventory of program supplies is maintained within the provisions of the budget and as approved by the Area Manager.
- Keeps the Area Manager informed of staffing needs as enrolment changes.
- Takes responsibility for administrative duties as detailed in the Administration section or as requested by PLASP Head Office.
- Deals with and advises the Area Manager of inquiries and visits from outside organizations such as the Boards of Education, Ministry of Community and Social Services, the Region of Peel Children’s Services, the Public Health Department, the Fire Department and other related agencies and to refer questions and/or concerns immediately to the Area Manager.
- Follows all PLASP Health & Safety policy and procedures as outlined in the Health and Safety Manual and ensure that the health and safety of the children is maintained at all time.
- Familiar with all emergency procedures required by PLASP and the Day Nurseries Act and ensure such procedures are implemented
