Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Program Director of the Aviation Science degree program is responsible for the implementation of the degree program. The Program Director will ensure the curriculum and coursework is offered throughout the academic calendar (semesters), meets all accreditation requirements, manage faculty and instructors, promote student achievement and success with enrollment and degree completion, coordinate with Republic Airlines/Lift Academy in the delivery of the flight training component, manage program for FAA Part 141 compliance, plan, facilitate and manage student flight training academic schedule, manage program budget and student flight costs, create and implement sustainable retention strategies, market the program for enrollment management and delivery, create and deploy strategic initiatives for program growth and sustainability, engage with a formed aviation advisory board, build industry partnerships for program support, conduct and prepare assessment and evaluation reports of the program, institute risk mitigation strategies, further develop and implement an innovative curriculum, provide reporting to supervisor, and manage the success of the program.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SPECIALIZED TRAINING)

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, aviation or aerospace, or equivalent
  • Master’s degree in business, aviation, leadership, or equivalent to support the position
  • At least 10 years of experience in flight education and training, and background in curriculum development in the aviation industry
  • Certified pilot experience in the military, government, or in the commercial industry
  • Background in aerospace and career education and experienced classroom instruction

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Aviation education and curriculum development and implementation
  • FAA Part 141 knowledge, compliance, and flight training background
  • Managing budgets and personnel to deliver an academic degree program

SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills to deliver an academic degree program
  • Work with a flight program provider and manage flight training of students
  • Communicate within an academic setting and work with external partners

  • Manage instructors of the Aviation Science degree program to meet all degree requirements each term
  • Provide instruction and curriculum development to enhance the sustainability of the program
  • Perform other duties as assigned
