Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Program Financial Analyst (PFA) is the fiscal partner of the agency’s program operations. As a Program Financial Analyst, your work, whether it’s developing reports for our funders or creating budgets, is used by our leaders to make strategic decisions to support our agency’s mission. Working on multiple assignments/projects at a time, you will be focused on the details while finding creative ways to take on big-picture challenges including process improvements, and serving as a business partner to our program teams. As a contributing team member, the PFA must work collaboratively with assigned program staff to ensure all grant and restricted funds are properly spent according to the contracts while balancing changing needs and priorities. PFAs have high visibility to the agency’s leadership team and interact with various key stakeholders (Program, Fiscal, Development, and Grantors). This position is also responsible for assisting the Director of Finance and Controller on the program’s internal and external analysis of results and explanation of variances. This role reports to the Director of Finance.
This is a temporary, part-time position working up to 24 hours per week. Estimated end date December 31, 2024 but may be re-evaluated for extension and/or regular employment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or an approved related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years Accounting or Finance experience in a progressive, complex accounting environment including generally accepted accounting principles; fund accounting, auditing, fiscal management; automated accounting systems and data processing inter‑relationships.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Self-starter with proactive mentality to challenge status quo, identify process improvements and bring in new ideas to the team. Always looking for a better way!
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), including bridging communications between Fiscal and programs while effectively interfacing with external grantors.
- Can prioritize and efficiently take on multiple tasks within deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel. Experience with ERP systems or other finance applications or visualization tools, Adaptive, Concur a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work at a desk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use a computer workstation and other standard office equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs; may occasionally move equipment, furniture, and/or office supplies.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Criminal background check via livescan fingerprint
- Must have TB test performed and submit results
- Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster status
HOURS AND OTHER CONDITIONS:
- Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00AM to 5:00PM.
- this is a temporary, part-time position. Some evenings and weekends may be needed for program support and/or workload.

Responsibilities:
- Prepares and submits grant invoices, including any required documentation, to funders on a timely basis and follow up on outstanding grant payments receivables.
- Monitors budget categories, spending rates and time restrictions to ensure all grants are on track to meet budgeted spending requirements. Proactively communicate with program staff and others when grant expenses are not on track to meet budget requirements and assist in the preparation of budget revisions as needed.
- Responsible for monthly close process including recording revenue and indirect costs, tracking restricted revenue uses and record the release of temporarily restricted revenue, and reviewing shared direct cost allocations.
