Job Description
As a part of our continued growth, our Greater Toronto Area Water group has an outstanding opportunity for a Deputy Program Manager to act as key project leader in conjunction with the Project Manager in the delivery of major municipal water programs. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in managing large infrastructure projects and programs (>$1B in construction value) including the design and construction phases of municipal infrastructure, preferably in the Greater Toronto Area. You will work in a team environment with intermediate and senior engineers to deliver advanced water and wastewater treatment projects to our client base in the GTA. This position can be based out of our Markham or Mississauga office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with leading and managing all phases of water and wastewater infrastructure programs that are deemed Enterprise Critical, which have a high risk reward, have a high to very high level of execution complexity and are of high significant strategic value.
  • Oversight on the design of water/ wastewater infrastructure
  • Manage ethical and job safety practices at all times.
  • Strong ability to collaborate, align and be a thought leader in program delivery methodology to work within client parameters while developing and planning means to achieve program objectives.
  • Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual program delivery, technical and client challenges, determining technical objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for technical activities and applications.
  • Drive innovation in program management approaches and methodology to achieve marketplace differentiation.
  • Work with Global Business Lines, Regional leadership, and Market Sector Leaders to identify strategic new business opportunities and develop solutions to address them.
  • Identify areas of high risk and pro-actively take action to positively impact program outcomes.
  • Contribute to the global learning and people development strategy for program management, including identification of talent and development of resourcing plans.
  • Assess long-term and disruptive trends in their area of expertise, proactively addressing emerging challenges and opportunities.
  • Propose skill development approaches and workforce planning to deliver capabilities for the future.
  • Actively lead and support the attraction and retention of top-tier talent within program management.
  • Accountable for overall financial success and delivery of AECOM Program Management agreement including proactive communication with client and AECOM leadership on the delivery of the program on all elements including financial, technical quality and schedule.
  • Stays abreast of industry standards and approaches and implements best practices.
  • Engage, hands-on, in the technical execution of client assignments through to successful project completion.
  • Ensure project work is undertaken is accordance with corporate health and safety policies and quality management systems
  • Mentoring staff

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or related field
  • 12+years of experience in the management of programs exceeding $500M, including 4 years of leadership
  • Driver’s license in good standing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Registration or ability to obtain professional registration with a provisional Engineering Association
  • Experience managing $1B programs
  • Solid technical skills in one of the practice areas of water/wastewater or municipal/industrial infrastructure, developed within a professional services environment, ideally with consulting engineering experience
  • Exceptional client care and service delivery skills.
  • Experience in working with geographically dispersed project teams that have successfully delivered major design projects within budget and on schedule
  • Experience leading and developing multi discipline project teams that may reside in multiple offices and in multiple countries
  • Proven project management skills including PM certifications.
  • Knowledge of alternative delivery models including DB, PDB, DBFOM, Alliance and other collaborative delivery models.
  • Keen business acumen coupled with strong business development experience
