Strong Families, Safe Kids
(SFSK), we are the first point of contact for those seeking support and guidance regarding concerns for children, young people, and their families. Our Advice & Referral line is essential in ensuring the well-being and safety of our community’s most vulnerable members. We take pride in offering a comprehensive network of government and non-government resources, enabling early interventions and working toward positive outcomes for children and families.
As a Program Manager, co-located at St Johns Park, New Town, you will lead an exceptional team dedicated to coordinating services and ensuring that assistance is provided promptly and effectively. Your role will involve offering valuable advice, facilitating referrals to other support services, and collaborating closely with Child Safety Services for further assessments when necessary. With your values-based leadership, you will drive positive change and promote the welfare of children and families across Tasmania. This role offers a high level of autonomy and requires exceptional organisational skills, teamwork, and cooperation across multiple organizations.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain an effective and skilled team by establishing role clarity at direct report level ensuring that performance expectations, development and accountabilities are clearly set and reviewed regularly.
  • Coach and Mentor team to enhance capability, development, and self-awareness including mastery of wellness and confidence in resilience.
  • Conduct staff performance discussions when required including setting priorities and outcomes, planning, and organising work and monitoring workflows, and assist in conflict resolution.
  • Action and accountability driven to achieve results in line with set timeframes.
  • Influence operational activities by contributing to the on-going service development and improvement via strategic and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and uphold positive, effective working relationships with key stakeholders within the community.

Requirements for Success

With a significant background of management experience in the Child, Youth & Family and/or Community Services sectors, you will be confident in your values-based leadership, people management skills and knowledge of complex service delivery settings. Other requirements include:

  • Relevant degree with management experience or associate diploma with substantial management experience is required.
  • Action oriented and takes accountability to achieve results in line with set timeframes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintains sustainable, positive internal and external relationships.
  • Highly developed communication, coaching, training, negotiation, and problem-solving ability.
  • Confident working in ambiguity and complexity by identifying risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Demonstrated delivery of service outcomes on time and compliant with funding requirements.
  • Full driver licence with no restrictions

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
