It aims to improve public safety and reduce the impacts of bushfires by:
  • Improving the scientific accuracy behind fire danger predictions
  • Improving the way that fire danger is communicated
  • Providing government and industry with better decision-making toolsReporting to the Deputy Chief Officer Fire Risk Research & Community Preparedness, the Program Manager AFDRS plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of the AFDRS program.This senior leadership position will be critical in providing strategic management and leveraging extensive program and project management expertise to achieve the outcomes and benefits expected from the CFA investment in their delivery. Your responsibilities extend to providing expert input into fire danger rating and Fire Weather District strategy, managing, coordinating and delivering cross-agency outcomes in collaboration with DEECA, EMV and other relevant agencies.ABOUT YOUWe are seeking a candidate with superior project management expertise working on significant fire risk related programs in complex environments, with the ability to influence and build organisational capability. You will have proven experience managing projects that contribute to the fire science body of knowledge coupled with strong political acumen and mature understanding of the complexities and protocols of Government processes.To assist in your suitability, you will possess tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and excellence in preparing and presenting concise and professional project management reports for senior management and governance boards.Key to your success in this role, will be demonstrated leadership with the ability to manage complex fire risk related projects, develop innovative solutions and provide authoritative advice to fire agency leadership. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships and influence stakeholders at all organisational levels and a high-level understanding of risk management, with skills in negotiation and networking.This is an exciting and unique opportunity to act as a national representative for the ongoing implementation of the AFDRS Program.WHY CHOOSE CFA
