MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Master’s in health-related or social services field preferred, but not required
  • Minimum two year’s work-related experience delivering health related programs to vast audiences
  • Experience in working with a variety of communities and developing community partnerships or relationships
  • Confidence building relationships in diverse communities or communities of color
  • Familiarity of public health, chronic disease and social determinants of health
  • Experience in working with a variety of communities of diverse backgrounds
  • Experience working for a non-profit health agency is preferred
  • Experience in grant proposal writing and securing new funding opportunities through grants
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, time-management and organizational skills
  • Experience managing and volunteers preferred but not required
  • Experience managing project budgets preferred but not required
  • Establish priorities, meet deadlines and time pressure and think creatively and strategically
  • Must be assertive, confident and project a positive presence
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office applications. Salesforce experience preferred but not required
  • Flexible for overnight business travel including the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Manager will be responsible for the local implementation and delivery of the National Kidney Foundation’s (NKF) signature programs to patients, the public, and professionals throughout the designated region. These programs include, but are not limited to, KEEP Healthy (community screening program), Big Ask: Big Give (kidney transplant education program), patient education symposiums, Your Kidneys and You (kidney health promotion program), advocacy, and professional education activities, including NKF’s Primary Care Initiative.
The Program Manager is also responsible for managing local expansion strategies, such as the cultivation of community and corporate partnerships, and assisting in securing funds for programs.
The Program Manager will work closely with the Executive Director to evaluate program performance and ensure activities are aligned with the NKF’s national strategic plan and local initiatives to address barriers to health equity in kidney disease.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver NKF signature programs within the established territory including:
  • Oversee planning, implementation and budgeting for all programs in order to maximize their impact within the community
  • Recruit, train and manage volunteers, ensuring all NKF committees are representative of the patients we serve, with a focus on the groups at highest risk for kidney disease
  • Enhance NKF’s public awareness activities in all communities, while prioritizing communities at highest risk for kidney disease
  • Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships internally and with other community organizations that address the same or related service population(s)
  • Work in collaboration with Regional Vice President, Executive Director, & Development Staff to secure funding for regional/local programs by assisting with grant proposals and meetings with potential sponsors
  • Assist in all advocacy efforts on a state level and oversee the annual Day at the Capitol event working closely with Kidney Advocacy Committee and Kidney Outreach volunteers to promote NKF’s legislative priorities
  • Produce performance reports on programs and provide feedback to management
  • Provide strategic direction to the local Medical Advisory Boards and serve as the Program liaison to the Board of Advisors
  • Prepare and manage program budgets
  • Serve as primary local liaison to the Council of Renal Nutrition (CRN) and Council of Nephrology Social Worker (CNSW)
  • Performs additional duties, as required
