Description:

The YMCA of Northern Alberta (YNAB) is seeking an enthusiastic individual to work alongside the General Manager to provide effective development and management of the YNAB’s Housing First and National Programs. This consists of housing first teams in Edmonton and Red Deer as well as Youth Exchanges, Launchpad for Women Entrepreneurs, and YMCA Community Action Network. The main stakeholders for the housing programs are Homeward Trust in Edmonton, and City of Red Deer in the Red Deer Region. In regard to the National programs the PM will need to work closely with YGTA on the delivery of the programs in Edmonton/ Prairie Region as staff report directly to YGTA and the PM.
The Program Manager fosters collaborative relationships with funders and community stakeholders. The Program Manager directs the staff complement, manages an approved budget, completes all related financial and service delivery reports, ensures compliance with all YMCA and funder service delivery policies, procedures and standards, and creates, monitors, and evaluates programming. The Program Manager carries out his or her duties in a professional manner and in accordance with all YMCA policies and procedures, standards of conduct and practice, health and safety standards, child protection standards and contractual, legal and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, supervise and manage all full-time and part-time staff and volunteers within program area. Ensure performance, management, evaluation and recognition of staff and that staff are held accountable to the delivery of high quality services through excellent relationships with clientele.
  • Provide leadership and strategic vision to program service delivery and future directions to meet the needs of program participants and the community in accordance with the YMCA Quality Service Standards.
  • Manage and evaluate programs against defined financial and programmatic outcomes, goals and objectives.
  • Recommend quality improvements and best practice strategies to current programs, processes, strategies, tools and ensure implementation of approved changes.
  • Develop, manage and monitor approved budgets and program financial operations to meet contractual obligations and financial targets and to achieve effective and efficient operations.
  • Maintain effective community relationships and partnerships relevant to the program and market and promote programs to achieve program and financial targets and to support coordinated, integrated service delivery.
  • Network with key program stakeholders, community agency, educational and business stakeholders to identify needs, manage referrals, coordinate solutions and integrate programs and services.
  • Demonstrate and promote a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission, vision, and values and the YMCA programs and services.
  • Ensure compliance with all OH&S, work alone, enterprise risk management practices, legal and regulatory requirements and YMCA policies and procedures.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED FOR THIS ROLE:

  • University Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related humanities field.
  • 4-5 years of experience in Non-Profit Organizations, or Human Services, including experience in supervision, coaching and performance management, and in program management, finance and administration for services for vulnerable population.
  • Annual registration in a professional body as required by law.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and team skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in program development, implementation and evaluation
  • Knowledge of related community, education, youth and human services resources.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Training in Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Trauma-informed Practice, Suicide Prevention and Non-violent Crisis Intervention preferred
  • Sensitive to and demonstrated knowledge of dealing with the needs of participants from different economic, cultural and racial backgrounds.
  • Specialized knowledge in Non-Profit Organizations, Housing First and National programs .
  • Able to obtain Clear and current Police Clearances and Vulnerable Sector searches. ·
  • Valid driver’s license, cleared driver’s abstract and vehicle.
