Job Summary

A BRIEF OVERVIEW

Smith Engineering seeks a high-energy and creative individual to help attract the best young minds from around the world to one of Canada’s top engineering schools. Reporting to the Director of Innovative Educational Initiatives within the Stephen J. R. Smith Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science, the Recruitment Coordinator will be responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating strategies that attract a diverse student body to our programs.
The incumbent will collaborate closely with various stakeholders within the Faculty and Queen’s University, including faculty, staff, alumni, and students, to ensure successful outcomes for recruitment initiatives. This role serves as a friendly and approachable first point of contact for prospective students from a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and talents, and will be pivotal in driving the execution of several key recruitment events throughout the year, including provincial fairs and institutional open houses.
As a key member of the recruitment team, this position involves travel to various events, where the Recruitment Coordinator will engage with thousands of promising students from diverse cultures and backgrounds, sharing insights on engineering and education at Queen’s. The role also requires a strong aptitude in recruitment marketing and communication, overseeing a wide range of recruitment materials to ensure consistency across web, print, and social media platforms. Additionally, the incumbent will analyze and report on recruitment successes, incorporating feedback for continuous improvement.
This position acts as the first point of contact for program communication materials. This position gathers information and assists with writing and editing articles, reports, lists, or summaries for program use. This position also coordinates communications, including preparing proposals, letters, seminar materials, and other documents, and plans and coordinates program events.
The schedule for this position requires the incumbent to work evenings and weekends.
Job Description
What you will doActs as the first point of contact for program communication materials.

Gathers information on assigned topics and assists with writing and editing articles, reports, lists, or summaries for program use.

Coordinates communications, including preparing proposals, letters, seminar materials, and other documents.

Plans and coordinates program events, such as conferences, fundraisers, training sessions, and other marketing and/or public relations events.

Develops and maintains a database of potential funding opportunities for student projects.

Updates and maintains program website.

- Acts as the first point of contact for student recruitment including applications and award competitions, and responds to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
- Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.

Required Education

  • Three-year Community College Diploma or Three-Year Bachelor Degree, or equivalent.

Required Experience

  • More than 2 years and up to and including 3 years of experience.

    • Experience working at a post-secondary education institution considered an asset.
  • Experience developing, coordinating and producing promotional and marketing material considered an asset.
  • Experience planning, coordinating and/or managing events or promotions considered an asset.
    Required Licenses and CertificationsVulnerable Sector Screening required.


    • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check required.

      Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
