Position: Programme Officer
Location: Gloucester
Salary: £23,043 - £28,006
Type: This is a fixed term contract until March 2025
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience in a relevant area of work, eg Youth Work, Social Care, Family Support, Youth Offending, Connexions, IAG, Health
- Experience of working with young people, their families and communities, particularly those at risk of social and educational exclusion
- Demonstrable experience of successfully working to targets
- Excellent IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office software and previous experience of working with databases
- Excellent verbal and written skills and ability to communicate concisely and effectively
- Demonstrable experience of providing excellent customer service skills
- Understanding of our client group and the barriers our clients may face
- Understanding of data protection and information security
- Ability to plan, assess and evaluate work undertaken
- Demonstrate accurate, timely record keeping and ability to produce written reports
- Ability to balance and respond appropriately to competing demands to meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Good at building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
To work as part of the YST NEET Team to support young people to access education, employment and training. This will involve contacting young people to establish their situation with regard to education, employment and training; providing information and advice on learning, employment and personal development opportunities to young people using telephone, internet and social media; recording accurately information on young people’s progress and outcomes; liaising with partners and opportunity providers to collect information on young people’s progress.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide information and advice on learning, employment and personal development opportunities to young people using telephone, internet, and social media
- Manage a caseload of young people mainly by using telephone, internet, and social media
- Referral of young people into suitable opportunities including training providers, employment, colleges and volunteering
- Support young people to address their barriers by referral to NEET Case Responsible Officers, other YST staff or other agencies.
- Advise young people about suitable opportunities and help them with applications and CVs
- Work with partners who support NEET young people to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- With the Senior CRO (NEET) establish effective processes for sharing information with schools, colleges and other providers
- Liaise with schools, colleges and other opportunity providers to collect information on young people’s activity.
- Follow up young people whose activity is not known by telephone, letter, internet, and home visits
- Record accurately information on progress and outcomes using the YST Core+ database
- Work together with partner organisations to provide innovative and alternative ways of providing information specifically using digital platforms including social media and YST website
- Attend regular supervision, team development days and contribute to the development of plans, practice guidelines and policies as necessary.
