JOB SUMMARY

Delivering excellent public services is a critical function of Government, within the Strategy, Assurance and Standards (SAS) team we are at the forefront of change and champion continuous improvement. We are looking for someone who is tenacious, driven, enthusiastic and conscientious. In return you will have a unique opportunity to work with the most senior leaders across Government and influence strategic decision-making at the heart of the Commercial Function.
You will be adept at managing projects and programmes, reporting and a variety of formats including dashboards along with forging strong relationships. You will use your skills to build relationships across the team creating a cohesive programmatic approach managing the processes for setting, tracking and monitoring delivery of the business plan. Beyond the team you will build a network of senior leaders from across the public sector, working together to identify, prioritise and deliver highly strategic projects in service of our vision: ‘To be the best commercial function in the UK’.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Programme and Reporting Manager, you will support the effective planning, management and delivery of the team’s projects ensuring alignment with the strategic priorities and timelines.
You will support planning, risk and issue management, stakeholder engagement and governance to drive and monitor the delivery of the business plan. You will manage processes across the Strategy & Communications, Standards & Oversight (SCSO) Portfolio.
Working closely with the teams within the portfolio, you will bring pace and value to the team’s delivery plan, collaborate across boundaries and deploy your sound diverse skills to track, report and monitor progress whilst managing business change.

Key duties:

  • Supporting the successful management of programmes within the SCSO portfolio, ensuring management processes are performed effectively and efficiently.
  • Using formalised project processes and procedures within the portfolio, implementing recognised project management methodologies in accordance with GovS 002.
  • Coordinating accurate and timely reporting within the portfolio, ensuring that stakeholders are kept informed of progress through projects and programmes.
  • Implementing and maintaining quality control and assurance measures through project lifecycles.
  • Delivering stand-ups and planning sessions on a frequent basis, ensuring team outputs are aligned with organisation objectives.
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Produce briefing materials such as updates, progress reports and governance board packs.
  • Ensure continuous improvement and development of all PMO processes taking advantage of available technology particularly Jira and Power BI.
  • Run governance arrangements including weekly team meetings. Producing minutes, booking rooms, board packs etc.
  • Assist and Lead (where appropriate) with the establishment of any new projects and all associated processes including monitoring and reporting.
