The Cariboo Regional District invites qualified applicants to apply for the full-time position of Programmer (Information Systems Technician) located in our Williams Lake office. A copy of the job description is attached for reference. SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Manager of Information Technology, the Programmer performs a variety of general and specific local network technical duties; provides technical support for the CRD internet and intranet sites; and ensures the network infrastructure performs properly. The Programmer installs and enhances products into the information structure of the LAN/WAN systems, as well as providing technical support for its users. The Programmer provides these services in an effective and efficient manner to ensure maximum access to and implementation of technology services and resources.
The successful candidate will also assist in the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PC’s operating systems, software applications and peripherals. Provide hardware and software support for users for all information system devices in the infrastructure and ensures that all information services policies and standards are met. Assists in the training for end users as required and accurately documents all procedures and related technical resolutions to be completed and updated regularly. Liaises with software vendors (Municipal Software, eScribe) to ensure that CRD use of such software is maximized and as efficient as possible. Assist with the maintenance of all CRD remote site hardware and software and communications. Provide technical support for CRD users for all information system devices and ensures information services policies are met. Assist/train the user community during and after implementation of developed and existing systems. Works with BC Assessment Authority and other stakeholders to ensure full data integration. Customize “out of the box” software to maximize efficiency and function of such software. Performs the necessary functions required to keep the network in proper operating order in the absence of the Manager of Information Technology.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Diploma and/or certificate in Information Technology field.
  • Minimum of 4 years related experience.
  • Knowledge of network operating systems, peripheral devices as well as with Microsoft Windows Operating systems and Microsoft Windows Server environments.
  • Thorough knowledge of and working experience with network and communications hardware.
  • Working knowledge of Spiceworks, eScribe and Cityview applications and of Microsoft SQL Server Administration.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
    WAGE: This is a full-time BCGEU position. The current rate of pay is $38.77 per hour plus benefits. A standard probationary period will apply.
    WORK SITE LOCATION: The successful candidate will operate out of the Cariboo Regional District office located at Suite D, 180 Third Avenue North, Williams Lake, BC.
    HOURS OF WORK: This position works a 9-day fortnight schedule averaging 70 hours bi-weekly Monday through Friday, with every other Monday or Friday off depending on the department’s schedule.
