As a part-time Programming Associate for Warren-Newport Public Library making between $18-$20 per hour, you’ll work an average of 18 hours per week with the schedule being Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and one weekend shift per month. Weekend hours are Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Sunday hours are from Labor Day to Memorial Day and are paid at time and half).
Join our energetic and fun team of library programmers in this exciting new role! You’ll offer engaging and creative programs to teens and adult patrons such as gaming, crafts, clubs, interactive workshops, and more! The ideal candidate will enjoy working with teenagers and adults, have a creative streak and will be comfortable presenting in front of small groups.
Every week, you will:
- Champion library efforts through positivity and encouragement of both coworkers and library patrons.
- Assist in the development and implementation of engaging programs for teens and adults aligned with library goals and community interests.
- Research and identify potential program ideas, including trending topics, popular interests, and community needs.
- Collaborate with the programming team to create program outlines, marketing materials, and promotional plans.
- Coordinate program logistics, including scheduling, room reservations, equipment, and supplies.
- Facilitate programs and events for teens and adults, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for participants.
- Attend community events to represent the library and engage with potential patrons.
- Oversee the teen space, creating a welcoming and engaging environment for young adults.
- Provide excellent customer service to library patrons of all ages.
- Answer reference questions and assist patrons with research.
Requirements:
To thrive in this role, you should have experience in working with teens, or adults in an educational or community engagement setting (or equivalent volunteer experience). If you have your Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Education, Library Science, or a related field, you may qualify for the higher end of the starting salary range.
Bilingual English/Spanish skills a plus! If you have an interest in library programming and community outreach, you’ll enjoy this role even more!
