Description:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years relevant health promotion or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within and across teams of people of various cultural, age, experience, and economic backgrounds
- Experience in program or training delivery in a school and/or community-based setting, or similar role
- Is comfortable, adaptable and able to engage with a variety of age demographics from youth through senior leadership
- Strong project management skills with proven ability to multi-task projects within budget and on time, including when travelling for activations
- Knowledge of health, health promotion strategies, community development and engagement, and harm reduction
- Research experience to help inform program development, with survey development being an asset

- Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

- Ability to work under pressure, to meet deadlines and flexibility to make changes when/if priorities shift
- GTA-Based: Must be based in core Toronto GTA to coordinate travel with the other rep.
- Experienced Driver: Must have a clean & valid full G driver’s license and comfort driving large vehicles in winter conditions.
- Physically Capable: Able to stand for long periods and manage physical tasks like lifting and transporting program assets.
- Fluency in French an asset
The hiring range for this position is $57,200 - $71,448:

Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Campus/Community Engagement Representative: :Working with an outside contractor, along with other external and internal team members this role encompasses:
- Delivering an Exceptional Experience: Work closely with external team members in a professional and respectful manner to create engaging and memorable experiences on Ontario post-secondary campuses
- Travel Ontario: Extensive travel throughout the province, including overnight stays, with accommodations and per diems provided
- Drive with Confidence: Shared driving responsibilities with external team member(s) in an SUV or minivan, often on tight timelines and long distances. Must be comfortable driving in winter conditions
- Set-Up and Tear-Down: Assist with setting up and dismantling displays, requiring physical effort including lifting up to 45lbs assisted
- Engage with Students: Approach, engage, and interact with students in a friendly and non-judgmental manner, with the goal of meeting and exceeding program targets
- Capture Content: Take photos and videos at the display (including sometimes being in the photos) to document the program’s success
- Stay Connected: Maintain constant communication with the external contractor and the office while on the road
- Represent the Brand: Always present yourself professionally, as you will be the face of the organization on campus
- Problem-Solving: Be quick on your feet and able to think critically to resolve any challenges that arise
- Judgement: Ability to evaluate programs while in market and provide recommendations for ongoing program improvement
Secondary Prevention & Stakeholder Needs Assessment :
- Conduct environment scan to identify provincial organizations and other key stakeholders:
- working in the areas of treatment, campus health, public health, mental health and other tertiary organizations; and
- that provide harm reduction/ health promotion programs, resources and supports to at-risk populations that may intersect with gambling
- Conduct a needs assessment with identified provincial organizations to determine types of responsible gambling and/or problem gambling related information and resources required to support at-risk populations
- Development and design of comprehensive key stakeholder/provincial organization database
Community Outreach and Training:
- In conjunction with internal Research and Prevention team members, investigate training modules best practice, considering demographics (age, etc.), types of training, effective training elements, content, factors when measuring success, and present recommendations
- Contribute to the creation of a training framework using evidence-informed learnings from successful training programs
- Create and/or assist in the creation of training modules and presentations on a variety of themes/subjects related to gambling, that are equitable and inclusive
- Delivery of presentations and/or training to campus and community stakeholders and other industry partners
- Represent RGC at public and private meetings, making connections with organizations and their representatives, bringing back relevant insights for consideration
- Actively look for opportunities to expand and extend RGC programs locally, provincially and globally that may include conference presentations, award applications, media interviews, and other opportunities
- Support current relationships and develop new relationships with stakeholders that align with the yearly programs’ goals and objectives
Able to write and communicate effectively for school and community partnership outreach, RGC public-facing opportunities, reports, e-newsletters, presentations to professional staff, sponsors, conference attendees, etc.
Maintains a keen understanding of gambling trends and research – with a strong awareness of trends that impact community i.e. mental health, addictions, poverty, etc.
-and makes appropriate recommendations regarding future programs and resources.
Team Collaboration:
- Able to work with a variety of internal and external team members as well as school and community stakeholders, and outside suppliers and agencies.
- Work closely with the Associate Directors of Prevention Programs, and Special Projects and Programs.
The Programs Outreach Coordinator helps drive our prevention education efforts forward in the province, and globally. You will be reporting to an Associate Director on the preventions team, and this role will run from September 2024 to March 2025. You will be actively involved in RGC’s prevention programming with a focus on three main areas including:
- Delivery of engaging, successful in-market activations and events,
- Research and development of a database inventory of key organizational stakeholders for outreach and partnership opportunities, and
- Creation and/or delivering presentations and training to stakeholders on various topics
