Description:

As the Project Accountant within the Project Performance team you will have responsibility for ensuring the delivery of timely, accurate and insightful project and management financial information to business and finance stakeholders. You will partner effectively with Business Unit Delivery leads and BU Finance Business Partners to ensure that accounting and reporting of project performance is efficient and effective. You will be responsible for reviewing the outputs of other team members and coaching team members where necessary.
This role will support our International Government business, which provides differentiated technology-based solutions which enable Government organisations across the world to find and stop threats, manage risks and operate securely and effectively in the digital world.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the business
  • Project set-up – ensure appropriate consideration of IFRS15 revenue recognition in the set-up of all new projects and use of accounting structures to optimise financial information
  • Project forecasting – work collaboratively with BU stakeholders to ensure the requirements for financial forecasting on projects are understood and delivered. Providing robust challenge to the project Estimate to Complete to ensure accurate forecasting.
  • Orderbook – own the monthly orderbook reconciliation process and associated analysis of backlog and secured revenue profile
  • Project trading – ensure there is an appropriate process for using project forecasts to inform the trading of project revenue and gross margin with review and validation with business stakeholders
  • Reporting and analysis – ensure insightful financial reporting of project performance using the SSR and other reporting mechanisms as appropriate
  • Management and Project Accounting - manage month-end process to create project and business area P&L, BS and Cash Flow and present this information to leaders
  • Management Reporting - review first draft financial / management reporting for use with business stakeholders
  • Project Admin – liaise with project control to assist with any queries.
  • Budgeting/Forecasting - provide support to Finance Business Partners in terms of historic financials and inputting into financial models
  • Cash flow and Management – oversee interface into Shared Services team to ensure bills raised in a timely manner; work with business stakeholders to drive cash collection
  • Financial Control - take ownership and responsibility for reviewing/approving reconciliations including order book, project and business area financial reconciliations (e.g. working capital, SSR)
  • Other adhoc tasks as required
    Qualifications: ACCA / CIMA / ACA / CPA Qualified. Baseline security clearance required to start the role, or the ability to obtain and maintain it.
    Location - This role will be hybrid and based out of our Canberra or Melbourne offices
