Mott MacDonald offices in Toronto and Vancouver are seeking a Project & Billing Accountant to join the team.
Reporting to the invoicing lead, you will be supporting the project accounts manager and unit accountant, who is responsible for optimizing financial management at unit level. You will produce timely billing, assist with rate cards and investigate project cost and invoicing queries, You will also assist in the maintenance of the timesheet system and facilitate the processing of purchase invoices.
Job responsibilities include:
- Primarily working with Project Managers and clients for a professional services firm specializing in consulting engineering with the clients being both public and private
- Produce accurate and timely billing and cost control reports for projects while interacting with clients and colleagues throughout our Company
- Invoicing and gather full knowledge and understanding of the financial requirements of our contracts.
- Processing of purchase orders as required.
- Request payments to subconsultants.
- Involved in collections to ensure positive cash flow.
- Gathering supporting documentation, checking the information for accuracy, following a standard or client specific invoicing format and following up with Project Managers and clients
- Working alongside project managers to produce other project accounting data on an as needed basis
- Provide additional support with administrative duties as needed
Mott MacDonald specializes in innovative engineering solutions for various projects in multiple sectors. This ideal candidate for this position will have the following qualifications and skills:

Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience preferred
- 3-5 years of prior experience working in billing or project accounting experience preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Must be well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have outstanding time management skills
- Can meet deadlines as various invoices have different due dates each month
- Be a team player and work well with others
- Occasional travel may be required

In compliance with the B.C. Pay Transparency Act, the expected salary range is from $75,000 - 95,000.
Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate’s actual salary within the expected range.
