Description:

RPS has a vacancy for an ambitions recent social science / STEM / communications graduate with circa 2 years’ experience who is interested in pursuing a career in project communications.

Experience Required:

  • Demonstrable experience of devising and implementing successful communications strategies, including developing communications collateral, media and social media campaigns, event management and stakeholder engagement
  • 2-3 years professional experience ideally in communications / customer engagement / for utilities / construction / infrastructure projects
  • Proven experience of delivering work in a deadline driven and evolving environment
  • Experience of client relationships and client reportin

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills for engaging with clients, colleagues, stakeholders, suppliers and media
  • Highly organised and efficient, with extraordinarily strong attention to detail
  • Appreciation of Ireland’s national and local/regional media, political and current affairs landscape as well as Ireland’s environmental and planning & development policy
  • Fluency in written and spoken English essential; and fluency / experience working through Irish would be beneficial (but not essential)
  • Exceptional literacy, storytelling, writing and editing skills with a proven ability to make complex technical information accessible and relevant to a wide range of audiences
  • Experience using MS Office suite including PowerPoint
  • Understanding / experience of issues management
  • Able to work on own initiative; as part of a collaborative team; and able to supervise external suppliers
  • A flexible and willing approach to working hours and travel to other locations throughout Ireland on occasion e.g., for open evening, project events
  • Driving license and access to transport ideally

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a fulltime role (5 days per week) that may involve secondment to a client team. Following a successful probation period, hybrid working can be arranged (3 office days in Dublin or Cork).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Devising and implementing communications plans
  • Internal stakeholder engagement including liaison with technical colleagues and multi-disciplinary teams, preparing internal reports and presenting to internal meetings
  • External stakeholder engagement including with clients contractors, residents’ associations, opposition groups and Local Authority Elected Members
  • Writing - project briefing sheets, press releases, website articles, social media content, etc
  • Message development to make technical / complex information accessible and relevant to householders, businesses, elected public representatives, and other stakeholders
  • Delivering public information / public consultation open days/evenings and online events
  • Organising, attending, presenting, and taking Minutes at stakeholder meetings
  • Event management for Ministerial sod turnings and official openings of clients projects
  • Stakeholder mapping, relationship management and maintaining up-to-date contact databases, in line with GDPR
  • Taking responsibility for communications on projects to achieve the clients vision and objectives
  • Due to the dynamic nature of the business, key responsibilities will evolve and change over time
