Project Control Accountant
MFN Management Inc. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Project Control Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the financial success of our projects by overseeing budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
As a Project Control Accountant, you will work closely with project managers and senior management to monitor and manage project finances, ensuring that costs are controlled, budgets are met, and financial goals are achieved. · Prepare, monitor, and update project budgets, forecasts, and cost estimates.
· Track and reconcile project costs and expenses against approved budgets.
· Analyze variance between actual and planned financial performance and report findings.
· Develop cash flow projections and monitor funding requirements for projects.
Reporting and Compliance:
· Generate periodic financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including management and clients.
· Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies, contractual obligations, and accounting standards.
· Maintain accurate documentation and records for audits and financial reviews.
Cost Control:
· Work closely with project managers to identify and manage cost risks.
· Implement cost-saving measures while maintaining project quality and timelines.
· Monitor contract terms, change orders, and amendments to ensure financial alignment.
Collaboration and Communication:
· Liaise with the finance team for month-end and year-end closing processes.
· Provide financial insights and recommendations to project teams and leadership.
· Support teams with financial input for bids and tenders.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Professional certification CPA, CMA or equivalent is preferred.
Experience:
· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project accounting or a related role.
· Experience in the construction engineering or consulting industries is an asset.
· Experience in Procore software for managing projects financials, tracking costs, and overseeing documentation.
Technical Skills:
· Proficiency in accounting software QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle.
· Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling.
· Familiarity with project management software, MS project is a plus.
· Proficiency in MS Office, including advanced skills in Excel for financial analysis, Word for documentation, PowerPoint for presentation, and Outlook for communication and scheduling, is required.
Soft Skills:
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
· Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to work.
