The Opportunity
TC Energy’s Facilities Integrity Project Controls Group is seeking a Project Controller to join our team. Successful candidate will be reporting to the Project Controls Manager, Facilities Integrity. The Project Controls team is responsible for providing detailed project cost support to ensure monitoring and controlling of project budgets. This includes trending, variance analysis, forecasting, and tracking of approved changes to ensure project is done safely, on time and on budget.
In this role you will work with both third-party contractors and internal clients to support project cost control and forecasting activities for projects. To be successful you will need to demonstrate drive and commitment to achieving business results and leverage your strong customer service skills to align with the needs of the project leadership and the client.

What you’ll do

  • Manage a portfolio of 50+ of Level A and B Reliability and Measurement projects
  • Review Decision Summaries and action other project initiation documents to open and set up projects in SAP and PIMS
  • Review Estimate and provide input for mapping to control WBS
  • Maintain project time phasing for control budget and estimate to complete
  • Compare current status versus established baselines and forecasts, contributing to the analysis and explanation of variances
  • Exercises judgement in the classification, compilation, and analysis of project trends
  • Track use of contingency, and approved changes to project budget
  • Collaborate with the Project Managers and other stakeholders to review project costs and forecasts
  • Supports requisitions for commitment of project materials and services
  • Work with Project Support to ensure all incurred work is accrued in the system, includes review of contractor cost and progress reports and project invoices
  • Proactively review projects for closeout – commitments management, reconciling imbalances.

Minimum qualifications

  • Post-Secondary degree in a related field
  • An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered
  • 2 or more years of related experience
  • Results oriented with sound problem-solving and analytical skills and an aptitude for attention to detail and accuracy
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office experience (Excel, PowerBI).

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with SAP Project Systems and Omega PIMS
  • An organized self-starter who can effectively balance a high volume of projects with minimal supervision
  • Cost reporting and forecast experience
  • Experience with executing low- to moderate-risk capital projects
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
