Description:
The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) is responsible for the safe, reliable, and economic planning and operation of the Alberta Interconnected Electric System. We provide open and non-discriminatory access to Alberta’s interconnected power grid and also facilitate Alberta’s competitive wholesale electricity market. Job Description
The Customer Grid Access (CGA) team is looking for a Project Coordinator to join our dynamic Project Management team in a 12 month fixed term position. The AESO is the sole provider of system access services on the Alberta Interconnected Electric System (AIES) and the CGA team is responsible for fulfilling this part of the AESO’s mandate. The CGA team is an integral group which is responsible for the daily coordination of internal projects resources, market participants and transmission facility owners to deliver customer projects in accordance with the AESO’s Connection Process.
The Project Coordinator plays a support role to the Project Management team to complete defined tasks across projects. In this fixed term role, you will be eligible for paid vacation time, four fixed days off per year, and health & dental benefits as part of your overall compensation package. We support a hybrid work environment, where the team is in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Mondays and Fridays are flexible for where you work best.
This role also offers great experience and exposure to
Project management tools, financial costing, project processes and relationship building, particularly if you are interested in a path to Project Management.
AESO connection process, technical and regulatory requirements, and a big picture lens of the electricity industry in Alberta.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Processing and maintaining AESO construction contribution decisions (CCD), Generating Unit Owner Contribution (GUOC) Notice, Payment in Lieu of Notice (PILON), Agreement Assumption Novation (AAN), System Access Service Agreement and other financial assessments throughout various stages of AESO connection process and Cluster process.
Processing forms, letters, and documents in support of the customer connection process.
Supporting Customer Grid Access Project Management Tool (schedule updates, custom data entry, queries, and reporting).
Tracking and maintaining projects’ accounting information
Contributing to the positive team morale and work environment by building strong working relationships with team members.
A combination of these skills and experiences will support your success in this role:
Bachelor Degree (Engineering, Business, or other related field), or an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
2 to 3 + years of hands-on project coordinator experience.
You have knowledge of project management concepts and project management tools / software.
You have demonstrated ability to make decisions and work autonomously,
Demonstrated communication skills and relationship building,
Skilled in using the Microsoft Office suite to produce project deliverables.
