We are seeking a proactive Project Coordinator with excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills to develop and manage climate change education projects for Indigenous communities. The role involves building relationships with Indigenous knowledge keepers, and creating culturally relevant and scientifically accurate educational materials. About the Organization: LLRIBHS Cultural program promotes Health services and cultural education to all community members of LLRIB. We work closely with the schools and other health organizations. Together with others, we work to build capacity and educate as we both address acute needs and the determinants of health.
About the position: You will oversee the creation and adaptation of climate change educational materials that are culturally relevant and scientifically accurate for members of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band.
Duties:
- Create a work plan for project consultation with LLRIB Program Manager and Clinic Supervisor;
- Identify and list knowledge keepers and medicine practitioners in LLRIB’s six communities;
- Collaborate with LLRIB Schools and health clinics to integrate traditional knowledge into activities and lessons;
- Organize meetings with knowledge keepers and elders to discuss climate change impacts and their integration into health and education systems;
- Prepare reports on findings and propose further actions;
- Prepare monthly progress reports on the project;
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Diploma in Health Sciences or related field;
- Two (2) years of relevant experience, particularly in the area of community development and/or health promotion and education;
- Strong organizational skills & able to manage time and priorities;
- Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team;
- Intermediate or advances computer skills and experience with social media platforms and Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint & Publisher;
- Excellent verbal, written communication & public relations skills;
- Comfortable presenting to small and large groups;
- Ability to speak/understand Cree is an asset;
- Experience working with First Nations Communities is an asset;
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
