Job description
Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Project Cost Estimator, based in Aberdeen.
Responsibilities:
- Support company and project HSE goals and all HSE related initiatives. Encourage personal safety and wellbeing of co-workers by regularly addressing HSE behaviour.
- Utilise cost methodologies and tools to produce cost estimates inclusive of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up scope and costs.
- Incorporate project complexity factors into project estimates and assemble key input data such as project objectives, scope and execution plan.
- Formulate methodologies for deriving quantities from design parameters.
- Perform scenario comparisons and sensitivity analysis across project concepts reflecting analysis of project risks.
- Support review and assurance of cost estimates.
- Lead peer assists and peer reviews utilising the Peer / Team Lead Estimate Review Checklist.
- Benchmark against historical performance, industry norms and established KPIs
- Assess prospect scope and utilise the company’s standard tools and processes to deliver consistent conceptual estimates at Type 0/1.
- Assess prospect scope and utilise the company’s standard tools and processes to deliver consistent “building block” estimates at Type 2 and Type 2+.
- Support process to collect actual cost performance, condition and normalise data for future use, develop metrics and benchmarking information.
- Deliver project benchmarking at the appropriate level to check estimate results from top down verses both internal and external comparable data.
- Work with IPA forms and reports to understand comparison of the company’s projects to industry data.
- Develop simplified cost estimates for use in probabilistic analysis.
- Support probabilistic cost and schedule risk analysis workshops.
- Facilitate deterministic risk analysis workshop using Technical, Economical, Commercial, Organisational and Political (TECOP) profile to establish appropriate deterministic cost contingency.
- Use local tools to determine the appropriate deterministic or probabilistic contingency
- Ensure compliance and utilisation of the company’s standard tools and processes.
- Lead Scope and Quantity reviews with discipline engineers to ensure scope completeness and collaborate with planning to ensure alignment between the project estimate and project schedule.
- Proactively contribute to targeting the number of concept scenarios to benefit project decisions.
- Identify areas of uncertainty and apply appropriate allowances.
- Timely delivery of all reports and information that meets the functional requirements of stakeholders.
- Perform estimate data gathering and analysis, to enable maintenance and update of estimating tools, including analysis of escalation factors.
- Actively assist knowledge sharing across the team and projects.
- Estimate tracker - update the estimate tracker for all front end opportunities.
- Reviews- undertake the appropriate assurance reviews (PEER, line and TA).
Requirements
- Engineering Degree and/or Certification as a cost estimator or equivalent experience
- Relevant industry experience including lead estimator positions.
- Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills
- Fully versed with Cost Estimating principles, techniques and industry standard tools.
- Good understanding of all phases of the project delivery process.
