About the role
We are looking for a Project Digital Design Lead for our London studio (DCAL). This is not a conventional BIM manager role; In this role, you will work closely with project teams, acting as a key collaborator to enhance design quality and efficiency through your deep understanding of construction, digital tools, and architectural workflows. You will take the lead in managing Archicad models and projects, ensuring they align with David Chipperfield Architects’ standards and processes. Your responsibilities will also include providing technical design input, coordinating across disciplines, and Archicad upskilling, mentoring, and guidance.
Responsibilities

Architectural design and delivery

  • Collaborate within project teams to create and deliver high-quality building designs and comprehensive documentation.
  • Leverage your technical expertise to ensure all designs comply with local codes, regulations, project standards, and best practices.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to maintain high-quality and compliant deliverables

Model management

  • Take ownership of Archicad models, ensuring accuracy and adherence to graphical standards throughout all project phases.
  • Regularly update, refine, and adapt models and workflows to enhance team efficiency and meet project delivery goals.
  • Coordinate model integration with internal teams and external consultants, for better collaboration and information consistency.
  • Manage the flow of incoming and outgoing project information, ensuring it is correctly integrated into DCA models and documentation.
  • Perform quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) checks on models and exports, maintaining adherence to standards and improving workflow efficiency.

Collaboration and mentorship

  • Lead by example in the use of Archicad and other digital design technologies.
  • Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Collaborate with project teams and the digital design team to align on methodologies, tools, and best practices.

Skills Required

  • You will be a technical Architect or Architectural Technician with 8+ years’ experience and will have worked through all stages of architectural design and delivered large complex projects.
  • Have extensive experience working with Archicad, demonstrating a deep understanding of its capabilities, workflows, and features.
  • Have good construction knowledge and experience with building codes, regulations and industry best practice. Familiarity with the principles and standards set out in ISO 19650 for information management is advantageous.
  • Experience working with internal and external information management systems, such as extranets or project management platforms, is beneficial.We look forward to receiving your application via our online portal.
