POSITION OVERVIEW:
Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting for an Intermediate/Senior Compression Project Engineer – Package to work at our Shepard Office (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6).
The Compression Project Engineer is a subject matter expert and will be responsible for the design, development, and execution of Gas Compression and Refrigeration packages. Reporting to the Package Engineering Supervisor, the Compression Project Engineer will ensure appropriate quality and integrity of product design, including responsibility for stamping drawings when required. This involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovative design solutions, conducting thorough analyses to optimize package efficiency, and adhering to industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
The successful candidate will be required to have in-depth, hands-on experience with sizing, selecting, and operating reciprocating and screw compressors. They will utilize their expertise to provide engineering support to the Service department during equipment commissioning and start-up. Additionally, the role involves mentoring and guiding junior Engineers and Engineering Technologists, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives of the Engineering Department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineering designation through (P.Eng) through APEGA is required.
- 5+ years (compression, refrigeration packaging/manufacturing)
- Experience working at a supervisory capacity with Project Engineers/Technologist and designers.
- Knowledge of process simulation software (e.g., HYSYS, VMG)
- Strong knowledge of requirements from Engineering jurisdictions (ABSA, EGBC, TSASK)
- Strong knowledge of ASME / ANSI / API Codes, good knowledge of CSA Codes.
- Solid technical knowledge of packaging design principles, materials, and fabrication processes.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant tools.
- Proficient with NAVISWORK Freedom for 3D Model Review would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of regulations, standards, and certifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, budgets, and resources.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, problem-solving, decision-making skills and customer focused
