Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY

To drive and manage the MEICA elements (within your discipline area) of various waste water projects for Thames Water. Manage Subcontractors, Designers and feed into the overall delivery of the project, ensuring programme and budgets are constraints are met. Safety and Quality are paramount, and you will be responsible for inspections and testing to ensure Tilbury Douglas’ high standards are met.
The Project Engineer will be fundamental member of the MEICA Team, Project Team and the wider Thames Water Framework Team.
The Project Engineer will support and encourage other members of the MEICA Team including Graduates and Apprentices.

Responsibilities:

  • Management and assistance in the placement of subcontracts and material orders.
  • Interpretation of discipline related drawings.
  • Technical expertise in the placement of subcontracts and material orders within your discipline area.
  • Vetting of subcontractors, inspecting their production, quality and installation.
  • Planning and programming. Supporting the wider Project Team to develop project programmes, prepare short term programmes for specific activities and contribute to regular collaborative planning sessions.
  • Maintain quality assurance records in accordance with the Company procedures, including ITPs and vesting.
  • Reviewing of subcontractors designs in accordance with TW Standards, for buildability, operation and maintenance.
  • Supporting with production of operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Attending site progress meetings and production of reports.
  • Coordination of MEICA works to support design progress with the Design Manager.
  • Inspection of equipment as required at factory and on site including FATs and SATs.
  • Advising the Quantity Surveyors of changes to specification and the financial impact on a project.
  • Technical assistance to the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor regarding contractual disputes if required.
  • Client liaison and correspondence.
  • Actioning snagging resolution and maintenance repairs during the defect’s liability period.
  • Site supervision of sub-contractors during critical activities.
  • Supporting site commissioning if required.
  • Any other duties which may reasonably be requested by management.
  • To be aware of and follow the company Business Management System.
