Position Overview
We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Project Engineer to execute site engineering projects. This role involves managing both process and non-process-related projects, such as Technology Transfer/New Product Introductions and Capital Projects (typically \
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., manufacturing, facilities, engineering, process development, and quality assurance) to successfully implement engineering projects.
- Oversee all phases of project execution, including initiation, change control, design coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning, qualification, and close-out activities.
- Ensure projects comply with corporate and site engineering standards, including Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements.
- Lead safety initiatives such as pre-job safety briefings, permit management, contractor risk assessments (e.g., JHAs), and HAZOP reviews.
- Act as the technical lead for site capital projects, providing oversight of design, vendor, and contractor submissions.
- Partner with document controllers to ensure timely updates and compliance with document management SOPs.
- Support document archiving in the Amgen document management system.
- Utilize critical thinking to troubleshoot and solve complex issues efficiently.
- Leverage tools such as MS Project, SharePoint, Smartsheet, and Excel for project tracking and management.
- Represent project milestones and updates in daily cross-functional meetings.
- Manage all aspects of projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, resource allocation, and post-project follow-up.
- Identify and address high-priority risks proactively during project execution.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders such as engineering firms, construction management teams, and vendors to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external partners to foster a collaborative working environment.
- Execute multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced setting while maintaining high-quality outcomes.
- Demonstrate learning agility and technical leadership by breaking down complex challenges into actionable plans.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree with 3 years of experience in Engineering or Project Management.
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience in Engineering or Project Management.
- Engineering background with expertise in cGMP manufacturing and utilities projects for Biotech/API plants.
- In-depth knowledge of biotech/API manufacturing processes and supporting functions.
- Certifications in Project Management and Safety (e.g., WAH Manager).
- Proficiency in commissioning and qualification of GMP equipment and automation systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory environments (e.g., cGMP, OSHA, EPA).
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills to build consensus among stakeholders.
