The Project
Kā Huanui a Tāhuna is an alliance established in November 2020 between Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC), NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, Beca, WSP, Downer and Fulton Hogan.
The programme of works includes Queenstown Town Centre Street Upgrades, Queenstown Town Centre Arterial Stage 1, Lakeview Infrastructure, Queenstown Upgrade Package, and Wakatipu Active Travel Network.
This exciting and challenging programme of work is improving safety and accessibility, enabling an improved public transport system, providing more options for walking and cycling, and benefiting the community and its visitors.
Construction started in January 2021 and is forecast to conclude in 2029.

The programme will play a vital role in helping to stimulate the wider Whakatipu economy and support the region to recover from the effects of COVID-19.
Construction started in January 2021 and will take around four years to complete.
The Position
We are needing a Project Engineer to assist with the finishing work as a Roading PE for the Arterial route on the project in Queenstown and need your expertise.

The position involves;

  • Leading the project teams in the successful execution and delivery of the construction projects.
  • Being accountable for the day to day running of the project site and progress of works.
  • Ensuring documentation required for project records and administration is completed accurately and within required time frames.
  • Preparing correspondence/programming and cost estimates.
  • Scheduling works, procuring contractor services, and providing technical expertise as needed.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Proven experience managing budgets and programmes.
  • Excellent leadership qualities.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Financial focus towards project costs.
  • Proven ability in subcontractor management.
  • You will need a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Structural Engineer and have a BE, NZCE or a Diploma in Civil Engineering.
