OVERVIEW:

Dillon Engineering Services is seeking a highly experienced Project Engineer on behalf of our client, a global leader in technical, professional, and construction services. This hybrid role will be based at their offices in Cork, Ireland.
This role involves day-to-day contract management and performance monitoring, including audits of tunnel systems, Motorway Traffic Control Centre (MTCC) operations, and contractor compliance. Key responsibilities include managing contract variations for tunnel upgrades, administering PPP Contracts, and ensuring compliance with the Tunnel Safety Directive. The position also provides advice on NEC3 contract administration, oversees project and programme management for client schemes affecting tunnel facilities, and offers ad hoc advisory services related to operations and contract management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors in the field of civil, structural, mechanical or electrical/electronic engineering.
  • At least 5 years of post-graduate experience working with infrastructural projects.
  • Experience working on mechanical/electrical systems projects and in the management of the operation and maintenance of infrastructure facilities.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate input from internal teams and external specialists.
  • Maintain knowledge of project status and provide internal reports.
  • Support the Commission Manager with contract management, including reporting and tracking milestones.
  • Draft and review correspondence with contractors.
  • Ensure contractor submissions comply with task and contract requirements, arranging technical reviews where needed.
  • Propose solutions to expedite or recover project schedules and agree with the client.
  • Monitor contractor compliance and identify issues early.
  • Develop and coordinate audits, inspections, and compliance checks with internal and specialist teams.
  • Review and coordinate compensation requests and approval for additional work.
  • Prepare and present reports to the client and key stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and project updates.
