Selection criteria includes:
- Tertiary qualifications in Telecommunications, IT or a similar field.
- Minimum 3+ years’ post qualification experience in Operational Technology projects, ideally within heavy asset industries such as Rail, Utilities, Water, Oil/Gas, Power, Construction.
- Track record of delivering large scale projects on time with demonstrable skills in developing project scope, tenders, contractor management, compliance, and assurance.
- Proven expertise in the investigation and analysis of identified engineering system issues.
- Demonstrated experience driving stakeholder engagement workshops both in person and virtually via MS Teams.
Additional requirements:
- Must possess, or be willing to obtain a construction industry white card
- Must possess a valid Driver’s license
- Cisco Certified Network Admin (CCNA) accreditation, desirable

Key Accountabilities include:
- Collaborate with various stakeholders across departments such as Engineering, Procurement, Technology and Operations to meet project outcomes within set timeframes
- Ongoing management of relationships with external stakeholders such as suppliers, vendors and other third parties
- Occasionally going on-site to ensure proper execution of project tasks in order to meet project outcomes
- Create RFQ’s/SRFs for tenders, evaluation and awarding of projects for the Annual Works plan
- Derive project scope and requirements in order to deliver on project activities
- Development of specifications, quality compliance and assurances packs
- Define the engineering requirements, design and implement appropriate engineering solutions accordingly
- Provide technical and engineering expertise for the investigation and analysis of identified engineering system issues
- Review design submissions and identify anomalies in accordance with design principles and relative standard

Responsibilities:
V/Line’s Network Development, Assets & Maintenance division has created four Project Engineer, Operational Technology positions to support delivery of projects critical to the development & design of our network assets.
The Operational Control Systems Program is led by an industry expert who fosters a culture of learning and development. The team’s expansion is an exciting opportunity for an Engineer with telecommunications or IT related qualifications to contribute their technical expertise while continuing to advance their career in project management.
Reporting to the Project Manager, Development & Delivery the Project Engineers contribute to project management, technology development, design solutions development and engineering investigation/analysis, specifically related to V/line’s Operational Technology.
