We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Power Systems Engineer or Technologist to join our team in any of our Richmond, BC location. This position would be responsible for the project management, design, development, and delivery of high quality, innovative electrical engineering projects that improve plant productivity, reliability, and sustainability for our North American customers.
The preferred location for this position is Richmond, BC however, we will welcome highly skilled and experienced candidates in Nanaimo and Prince George.
WHEN SELECTING CANDIDATES, WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR THE FOLLOWING ESSENTIAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in electrical engineering;
- Minimum of 5 years’ consulting engineering experience in brownfield MV and HV electrical power system design;
- Registered, or eligible for immediate registration with EGBC or ASTTBC;
- Site audit, commissioning, construction, and start-up experience;
- Proven ability to successfully manage and deliver MV and HV electrical projects;
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills (English);
- Practical knowledge of North American standards;
- Legally entitled to work in Canada;
- Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites (typically 5-20%).
OTHER VALUED, BUT NON-ESSENTIAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE INCLUDE:
- Pulp & Paper industry experience;
- Consulting engineering experience; preferably in industrial engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of engineers and project stakeholders;
- Estimate, design, and commission medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) industrial electrical power systems;
- Perform and review electrical system studies: short circuit, load flow, arc flash protection and coordination, grounding, harmonic, etc;
- Perform protection and control systems design and settings;
- Articulate design concepts to internal and external stakeholders;
- Provide project management and oversee project coordination to ensure accurate billing, time accounting, and financial reporting;
- Consult and negotiate with customers to prepare specifications, explain proposals, and present engineering reports;
- Prepare and evaluate tender and construction packages;
- Assist with large capital project development, including feasibility studies, project scope definitions, preliminary engineering designs, and capital cost estimates;
- Ensure that the activities adhere to the quality standards established by the Company and industry standards;
- Embody, demonstrate, and reinforce the ANDRITZ values.
