Description:

RAM is a project delivery firm specializing in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering and Advisory services across Canada. RAM is searching for a motivated and experienced individual in Vancouver, BC. The successful candidate will be an individual that enjoys a challenging, professional, and dynamic workplace and contributing to the success of a hardworking team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineer of Recod (EoR) for electric substation projects, working with design technologists to produce detailed designs, material lists and construction packages for electric substation projects in support of the FortisBC capital plan
  • Lead Project Engineer for projects where the design and engineering are contracted out, acting as the FBC technical point of contact and responsible for ensuring consultants deliver on the expected scope adhere to FortisBC standards and practices and meet project timelines.
  • Point of contact with stakeholders on assigned projects
  • Responsible for project controls including budgeting, scheduling, forecasting and risk analysis for the engineering part of the project
  • Provide engineering support during construction
  • Lead the engineering part of the project closeout process
  • Maintain current detailed knowledge of design criteria, material and processes through suppliers, literature, and industry organizations and conferences.

Ideal Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, plus 6-10 years experience in electric substations. Must have Professional Engineering status with EGBC.
  • Knowledge and understanding of station, transmission and distribution components and their functions within an electrical utility environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices for substation design.
  • General understanding of multi-disciplinary engineering and construction concepts.
  • Knowledge and experience of project processes and project execution.
  • Exceptional organizational skills; manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices, policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with various commonly used software such as AutoCAD, MS Office, Primavera, and SharePoint.
