Description:

D.M. Wills Associates Limited is in search of an experienced Stormwater Management Project Engineer for projects in our Land Development (Civil) Engineering Department.
Land Development projects are a multi-step process, with inputs required from a wide range of supporting disciplines. The success of these projects depends on technical knowledge and experience, pro-active project management, clear communication and solutions-oriented problem solving. Wills provides a full suite of land development services to help our clients get where they are going. Our experts include engineers, project managers, professional planners, biologists, hydrogeologists, contract administrators, surveyors and inspectors who work closely together to understand the big picture and how each piece of a project is interconnected. We believe that the better integrated our land development services are, the greater the benefits are to the entire project.
Your opportunity as a Project Engineer is to join our Stormwater Management team designing healthy, clean and safe drainage systems. From cutting-edge Low Impact Development systems to large stormwater management infrastructure, you will play an integral role in our land development services, building on a strong foundation of partnership to provide the best solutions for our clients.

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (P.Eng. with PEO).
  • 5 years of Civil/Stormwater Management Engineering experience.
  • Strong competency in stormwater management design, including quantity control, quality control and low impact development.
  • Experienced in preparing stormwater management reports,
  • Familiar with the approvals process from Municipalities, Conservation Authorities and Provincial Agencies in Ontario.
  • Skilled in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using tools such as Visual OTTHYMO, EPA SWMM, HY-8.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Competent in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Ability to inspire enthusiasm and drive action around innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills in technical and commercial contexts.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS THAT ARE CONSIDERED AN ASSET:

  • Experience with the ESRI ArcMap Geographic Information System (GIS) software package for the development of hydrology studies and floodplain maps.
  • Experience as Expert Witness for Ontario Land Tribunal Hearings.
  • Experience with providing Peer Review services on land development projects.
  • Holder of, or eligible to obtain, an Ontario Class G Driver’s License.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead/manage the development of preliminary and detail designs, development agreements and approvals, construction specifications and tender documents for stormwater management projects.
  • Serve as primary contact for key stormwater management clients.
  • Management of project resources, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Preparation and/or coordination of winning proposals for stormwater management services.
  • Provide direction to EITs and project designers in maintaining quality of work.
