REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project engineering within the utilities or energy sector, with a focus on substations or power systems.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory codes and standards, including CSA, NESC, and ANSI / IEEE
  • Perform QA/QC of electrical engineering design packages.
  • Provide regular progress updates and reporting on project deliverables.
  • Provide engineering and technical support, and reviews to field crews during construction.
  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
    The compensation for this role is an hourly rate, Independent Contractor or Employee Hourly, $50-80/hour DOE. This role would be based in Kelowna office with site visits and travel to Trail, BC.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design and execution of station-related projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop and review project scopes, budgets, and schedules; monitor progress and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including contractors, regulatory bodies, and consultants, to facilitate project delivery.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential challenges and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure that all engineering work adheres to the client’s safety standards, environmental policies, and quality assurance protocols.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and project documentation to management and stakeholders.
  • Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and stakeholder consultations to ensure alignment and clear communication.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve engineering processes and project outcomes.
