Job Description
The Project
Work on a high-profile infrastructure project as part of a global team, using continuous improvement methodology and innovative technology which enable us to leave a genuine legacy. Southern Program Alliance based on the Frankston line is one of five alliances responsible for removing 110 of Melbourne’s most dangerous and congested level crossings by 2025 as part of Victoria’s Big Build transport infrastructure program.

The Opportunity:
The Project Engineer, Utilities reports to the Construction Manager assisting with construction planning, sequencing and the delivery of utility works in coordination with interfacing construction delivery teams. The role will require a high level of stakeholder engagement liaising directly with utility service providers to review contractual and commercial arrangements, design solutions, technical details, and coordination strategies.

Key accountabilities:

  • Assist with construction planning, sequencing and delivery of utility works in coordination with interfacing construction delivery teams
  • Assist with program planning, developing program lookaheads and identifying risk and resolve critical delays
  • Liaise with utility service providers to review contractual and commercial arrangements, design solutions, technical details, and coordination strategies for works
  • Develop a scope of works in a logical work breakdown structure to be able to plan lower-level activities requiring monitoring.
  • Track costs for labour and plant, verify quantities of work completed for subcontractor claims and verify receipt of goods/deliveries.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Tertiary Qualification in Civil Engineering (or similar)
  • 4 years demonstrated experience as a project-based engineer focusing on utilities in the construction engineering industry
  • Demonstrated experience in construction planning, sequencing and the delivery of utility works
  • Previous experience liaising with utility service providers reviewing contractual and commercial arrangements, design solutions, technical details, and coordination strategies
  • Current Driver Licence and your own reliable vehicle.
