As a result of our successful project awards, our Pipelines group is rapidly expanding; therefore, Mott MacDonald is seeking qualified staff to join our team. Under the direction of a Principal engineer, you will lead the technical aspects for Oil and Gas projects.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical expertise for natural gas pipelines and facilities, liquids, terminals, transmission, gathering, midstream and treatment within the US or Canada.
  • Candidate will lead linear projects that include routing, Alignments, Design Crossings, Site Layout, Hydrostatics, stake holder outreach, right of way and permitting support.
  • Candidate will be able to assist in mechanical designs of piping systems, Pipeline Stress Analysis and Pipeline Soil Interaction, pipeline hydraulic analysis/pipe diameter selection, pipe wall thickness design/selection, cathodic protection design, pipelay analysis and pipeline on-bottom stability analysis.
  • Design to current codes and standards and lead with permitting and coordination from a technical perspective for local, State, Federal requirements including FERC regulations.
  • Leads a team of engineers and designers and works with Project Managers and other discipline leads on Oil and Gas projects. Coordinate engineering/design execution, planning, and interface and ensure that activities are completed on schedule and within allotted task hours. Directs technical staff to work on appropriate tasks of the project while completing higher complexity tasks.
  • Performs and executes technical calculations without supervision. Reviews and supervises calculations performed by others to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Mentors and trains junior design staff on calculations and design software’s.
  • Coordinate with engineers and other discipline engineers and ensure consistency in execution of project management activities.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external teams of clients and team members.

The ideal candidate will possess the following

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in in civil, mechanical, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Seven or more years’ experience in one or more of the following project types: pipelines, compression or metering facilities, transmission, gathering, midstream, or treatment facilities within the US or Canada.
  • Registered PE
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
