MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience of leading, supervising and motivating multi-functional teams
  • You will be proactive in your approach and have the ability to develop your team and their workload, priorities and actively engage in their development
  • Relevant Engineering degree, (Chartered Engineer status preferred).
  • Experience of pharmaceutical type construction and / or equipment installation projects.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry and knowledge of GMP and ISPE guidelines.
  • Computer literate (ACAD, Microsoft project, word, excel).
  • Expertise in Stage Gate type Project Management Methodology.
  • Hands on experience of controlling many projects simultaneously

Responsibilities:

Coaching the Project Engineering team;

  • Development of new working methods to maximise effectiveness of team, increase efficiency.
  • Coordination & balancing of Project Engineering workload within team.
  • Technical support to Project Engineers.
  • Supplement Project Eng resource to complete capital projects if required and as agreed.
  • Ensuring project engineers deliver projects to agreed quality, cost and schedule
  • Role model the 4i values: - Integrity – Intensity – Innovation – Involvement

Routine Responsibilities;

  • Compilation & management of Swindon capital budget with Technical Director and Site Leadership Team.
  • Ensuring liaison and consistency of Swindon site with other Patheon sites (Europe), and Patheon Engineering Standards.
  • Generation of cost estimates to support new business enquiries, with assistance from EU Engineering department if required.
  • Client liaison during audit or implementation phase where required.
  • Lead and run major capital projects with appropriate team support.
  • Management of drawing office requirements with respect to project work.
  • Ongoing development and update of site master plan.
  • Ensuring EH&S requirements are met at all times by all project specs & designs.
  • Support to regulatory audit as required.
  • To maintain excellent working relations with key job holders.
  • To promote the business in a professional manner.
  • To work in a responsible and safe manner.
  • Site feasibility studies for new technologies or business enquiries.
  • To train and develop the Project Engineers in the team
  • To engage with and utilise the skills of the EU Engineering design team to support the Swindon site projects where and when appropriate.

Project Management;

  • Development and management of Project Engineering process site-wide including resource modelling, and ensuring that the Patheon project Methodology is adopted and followed.
  • Development and management of Engineering standards, technical specifications and capital projects cost estimating.

The following outputs will be assured by the appropriate management, control and coordination of the Engineering Project team:

  • To control and organise capital building work projects when designated, from equipment selection through to installation, commissioning, qualification and hand-over to production and maintenance
  • To assure development of project scope from the appropriate user requirements.
  • To undertake all aspects of structural building work design vital for the preparation or reclamation of designated project sites.
  • To provide the technical attachments for inclusion into contracts, and assist the procurement and legal teams in negotiating the most suitable contract terms and contract type for Patheon.
  • To act as engineering liaison on other project teams and carry out functions including:- assessing engineering implications of projects, advising on engineering suitability of equipment and organising installation and commissioning of equipment.
  • To investigate building equipment purchase/modification proposals and to make recommendations, prepare justifications and submit cost to management.
  • To initiate and control the design and installation of modifications to existing facility systems to improve efficiency.
  • To maintain a close relationship with the Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Manager to ensure that all new machinery and systems meet the required safety standards.
  • To keep up to date with the techniques, building equipment and materials being used and developed for the pharmaceutical industry using systematic benchmarking where appropriate.
  • To put forward ideas for increasing efficiency and reducing costs.

EH&S:

  • Understand emergency procedures and follow safe systems of work.
  • Ensure compliance with environment, health and safety and security policies and procedures, rules, signage and instructions at all times
  • Ensure prompt reporting and investigation of all accidents, near misses and breaches of rules
