Description:

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a production geologist in an open pit environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology with ideally a master’s degree in the earth science discipline
  • Registered or eligible to register with PGO Ontario as P.Geo
  • Must possess a valid class 5 Drivers’s license with a clean record
  • Experience using MineSight, Leapfrog and acQuire
  • Must have experience in data analysis, statistics, 3D interpretation and block modelling
  • Willingness to travel 50% to British Colombia for the first year and up to 20% in the Americas the following years

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

The purpose of this role is to provide technical support for mineral resources and reserve estimation models to limit business risk

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Maintain effective communication between the mines or project teams located in different business units (i.e. Canada, Peru, USA) and the corporate head office.
  • Develop, maintain and conduct audit process of BU reserve & resource statements
  • Manage, report, and analyze reserves reconciliation data as it relates to mining recovery and regulatory reporting
  • Support short-term and hybrid block modeling
  • Support production geologists by reviewing areas of concern and providing geological interpretations to correct model issues
  • Support highwall mapping, logging, sampling, and other daily operations
  • Provide input and recommend continuous improvement of operational practices taking into account ‘industry best practice,’ changes in international standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans
  • Support merger and acquisition efforts in the areas of geological and mining
  • Identify risks and opportunities in assigned projects
