Polar Racking is currently looking for a Project Lead, Engineering based in our Mississauga office.

Responsibilities

  • Generate cost reduction ideas on existing and new designs.
  • Work Closely with the Engineering team overseas.
  • Dynamic personality with an ability to think outside of the box, make calculated risks, and follow a project from conception to completion
  • Ensure delivery of quality products to clients
  • Design (Solid Works) and calculate/Analyze using Solid Woks FEA
  • Select suitable materials for the application.
  • Perform Tolerance stack to ensure proper tolerances are applied.
  • Deliver results in planned dates.
  • Communicate with prototype vendors for manufacturability of design and make proper design adjustments.
  • Work in a team environment and respect teammate’s opinion
  • Coordinating Test at 3rd party locations
  • Build full scale prototype structure in field and performing tests.
  • Check Drawings and ensure they are to Polar Racking standard.
  • Communicate with Vendors to simplify design.
  • Clear communication with internal stakeholders, vendors and customers on project status and deliverables
  • Provide expert advice on project development processes and/or construction methods.
  • Standardization of all future PRU’s
  • Ensure all PRU projects are engineered in timely manner.
  • Ensure all PRU project CAD’s, Top Level Drawings, Structural Packages, and component Drawings are created per Polar standards and checked for accuracy.
  • Ensure proper structural analysis has been performed by structural Engineers.
  • Ensure Bill of Materials are created correctly.
  • Review BOM with SCM and ensure agreement on member selections.
  • Per Engineering process, perform design reviews in timely manner.
  • Ensure PRU Layouts are crated correctly.
  • Maintain Installation and OEM manuals with all lessons learned.
  • Establish and maintain project plans including defining project scope, identifying risks, and setting milestones, as well as be responsible for project execution.
  • Coordinate any connection test verification with 3rd party test lab and ensure connection meets the requirements. If any concerns, coordinate design changes with design team and after performing FEA studies build and test connections until resolution
  • Follow up with 3rd party Engineering consultants to stamp drawings.
  • Respond and resolve PRU customer RFI’s by coordinating them with respective 3rd party Engineering consultants and obtain approvals.
  • Response to customer requests quickly and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Ensure client expectations are met.
  • Ensure delivery of quality products to clients
  • Clear communication with internal stakeholders, vendors and customers on project status and deliverables
  • Work with PRI and ensure foundation design information has been provided by Structural engineer.
  • Dynamic personality with an ability to think outside of the box, make calculated risks, and follow a project from conception to completion.
  • Promote cost reduction and meet annual VAVE Targets
  • Support and take initiative on continuous improvement programs throughout the organization.
  • When Needed travel to site to inspect engineering compliance.
  • Promote teamwork in Engineering group.
  • Maintain project information and status tracking systems on a daily basis.
  • Write technical reports.
  • Provide expert advice on project development processes and/or construction methods.
  • In case of need work flexible hours to complete task in hand
  • Follows and complies with all operational procedures/policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.
  • Required to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with all local laws requirements where performing work. Follows and ensures the Company’s procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout their assigned area.
  • Travel to project sites, business meetings, and tradeshow, as needed and required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of design experience preferably in Mechatronics
  • At minimum bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Exceptional ability in creating engineering drawings, Bill of Materials, managing revisions and release of drawings.
  • Experienced in FEA analysis in solid works.
  • Experienced in performing tolerance Stack-up.
  • Highly creative
  • Fluent in operating Solid works
  • Experienced in evaluating dimensional deviations and communicate solutions with suppliers.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal English writing skills.
  • Enjoys hands-on work through professional or personal projects (power tools, shop tools, carpentry)
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal direction and ability to work in an interactive team atmosphere.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic with a strong desire to succeed.
  • Team oriented individual.
  • Good time management skill
