Job Description Summary
This position will support Penn’s Achieving Maternal Equity and Transforming Health through Implementation Science and Training (AMETHIST@Penn) Hub. The AMETHIST@Penn Hub will support the vision of the NIH IMPROVE initiative by providing consultation and technical assistance to the currently funded 4 IMPROVE-CIPs and other IMPROVE programs and investigators. The AMETHIST@Penn team will work closely with NIH staff and the Data Innovation and Coordination Hub/Resource Center and will support equity-focused maternal health implementation research through five Cores: (1) Administration, Leadership, and Evaluation; (2) Equity, Community, and Stakeholder Engagement; (3) Design, Methods, and Analysis; (4) Policy, Dissemination, and Communication; and (5) Training and Capacity Building. This position will provide support to the 5 Cores. The Project Manager will coordinate AMETHIST@Penn interactions with NICHD staff, other NIH staff, and the DIC hub. They will be the primary contact for investigators and administrators at the IMPROVE-CIPs and other IMPROVE programs, and help organize and coordinate Hub interactions, consultations, and events. They will train and oversee Program Coordinators, and a Research Coordinator and will assist with any other AMETHIST project needs. They will also oversee protocol development, protocol training, IRB submissions, and data quality.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee organization and documentation of Core activities, including contacts with IMPROVE Community Implementation Programs and other IMPROVE investigators and maintenance of AMETHIST@Penn correspondence and interactions; ensuring CIPs receive the support they need to complete proposed implementation research.
  • Attend and oversee AMETHIST@Penn weekly team meetings, monthly, all-core meetings, twice-yearly family meetings, and other meetings with MPIs Lane-Fall and/or Hamm as needed.
  • Coordinate AMETHIST@Penn interactions with NICHD staff, other NIH staff, and the DIC hub as related to CIP needs. Oversee and manage direct staff. Complete performance evaluations, approve PTO, and all other duties associated with managing direct staff.
  • Oversee study protocol development, train research staff on protocol, ensure protocol is followed and perform data quality checks on Hub led research.
  • IRB Submission/Modifications – Submit modifications, deviations, and continuing review for multiple protocols. Train research staff to complete IRB submission for other protocols when applicable.
  • Train and oversee Program Coordinators for the five Cores.
  • Position contingent upon continued funding.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of clinical research and/or project management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Master’s level of education preferred.

The selected candidates will be highly-organized and reliable. They will also possess excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
