MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in health care, business, or a related field required
  • Risk Management and/or Project Manager Certificate an asset
  • Proven track record in project management, including 3-5 years experience in risk management, quality improvement, project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation
  • Knowledge of Qmentum Accreditation process is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of quality, risk and patient safety theory and quality improvement methodology
  • High attention to detail and ability to lead under tight timelines
  • Experience in leading teams and demonstrated team leadership skills, including coaching, teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others
  • Skills in negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution
  • Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influencing skills, a client and family centred care orientation and a commitment to providing quality services
  • Ability to successfully engage staff at all levels of an organization
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines as required
  • Take initiative, able to work both independently and in collaboration with teams
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, tailored to a range of audiences
  • Ability to relay or explain information of varying complexity
  • Ability to explain the relevance of accreditation within the context of Holland Bloorview’s Strategic Plan

In collaboration with the Quality, Safety and Performance team the Project Manager Accreditation & Integrated Risk Management leads the development of the two separate 16 month work plans to identify and track key requirements and activities for Accreditation and Integrated Risk Management

  • With respect to Integrated Risk Management:
  • Supports and executes the corporate integrated risk management framework, identifying, assessing, and prioritizing risks across the organization, including clinical and non-clinical areas to support completion of our HIROC risk assessment checklist.
  • Supports the organizational efforts to develop a refreshed Risk Appetite and Tolerance statement aligned with the new Holland Bloorview 2030 strategic plan.
  • Develops proactive and reactive strategies to mitigate risk at all levels in the organization.
  • Coordinate education, mentoring, and coaching to support risk identification and mitigation initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and expertise on risk management protocols, contractual obligations, and insurance requirements to staff, leaders, and physicians.
  • With respect to Accreditation preparation:
  • Develops and delivers the organization-wide accreditation work and preparedness plan
  • Monitors completion of activities to ensure identified timelines are met
  • Supports the ongoing activities required of accreditation team leaders and groups
  • Plans and chairs accreditation working group meetings as required
  • Prepares and delivers presentations related in support of working groups where needed
  • Prepares required accreditation documents and information
  • Coordinates the set-up and completion of self assessment questionnaires and instruments
  • Plan and/or facilitates mock accreditation tracer activities and table top discussions with accreditation teams and staff
  • Works in collaboration with Quality, Safety and Performance and Communication and Public Engagement to implement the communication strategy that includes special events and accreditation awareness activities
  • For both roles:
  • Provide guidance to team leaders in the analysis of integrated risk and accreditation road maps and the management of identified quality improvement initiatives
  • Networks with accreditation/integrated risk leads at other organizations as appropriat

Reporting to the Director of Quality, Safety and Performance, this role has a dual purpose within the organization:

  • First, in collaboration with the Quality, Safety and Performance team, and the Vice President Corporate Performance, Digital Transformation & Chief Financial Officer, this role will support the growth of the integrated enterprise risk management program.
  • Second, this role will provide leadership for the hospital’s accreditation preparation process including coordination of organizational accreditation activities, development and delivery of required education, and creating awareness and understanding of the accreditation process. This role will work with the Quality, Safety and Performance team and Accreditation working groups from across the organization to ensure Holland Bloorview is optimally prepared for the Accreditation Canada on-site survey in fall 2025
