About the role:
Guiding teams through large, complex project activities, while adhering to the PMO standards, processes, and methodologies. The Project Manager will be responsible for leading multiple projects for various departments across the organization and will endeavor to meet the expectations outlined by the stakeholders adding value through experience and knowledge.
Your responsibilities:
Managing high priority projects involving multi-disciplinary teams
- Managing complexities of integrating new technologies, processes, and services
- Prepare project charter and develop detailed project plans including scope statements, schedule and budget estimates, and success criteria
- Influencing individuals across business boundaries to achieve objectives
- Communicating and negotiating with project sponsors
- Identifying project resources and negotiating support levels from both technical and user communities. Developing and maintaining resource plans and managing resource conflicts
- Defining and managing project scope, objectives, deliverables, constraints, and activities in conjunction with the project team and sponsor
- Defining and quantifying project risks, both internal and external, and developing mitigation plans
- Facilitating project definition and planning sessions to develop project statements, work breakdown structures, and work package plans
- Preparing and tracking project budget, schedule, and status reporting
- Establish and grow business relationships essential to the success of the project
- Conduct project post-mortems and create a report to identify successful and unsuccessful aspects of the project
- Managing vendors within the parameters of the project/contract
- Establishing quality standards in the product and process, sharing lessons learned, and recommending improvements with other project teams
- Reviewing and analyzing progress, including critical path and slack throughout the project life cycle, and taking corrective action as required
- Managing issues by involving the customer and project team as appropriate
- Adhering to project management and PMO methodology, process, and standards; contributing to the creation and updating of the methodology, process, and standards
- Mentoring junior team members
Your qualifications:
- 8-10 years of project management experience including management of complex, multidisciplinary projects, within technology and business environments
- Experience in the financial services industry, preferably in asset management is considered an asset
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of project life cycle methodologies and processes.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision, prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently, within a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, ability to motivate the teams, and keep the work on course.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Project and advanced user of other applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc. Present complex ideas clearly
- Identify all groups that may be affected by the project and involve them by actively soliciting their input
- Understand and apply problem-solving and decision-making models
- Seek and garner support of key stakeholders
- Use appropriate strategies to manage conflict
Key success measures:
- Ensuring projects are completed within scope, schedule, and budget, and meeting client expectations
- Project task delivery meets timelines as defined by the project plan
- Project costs meet budgetary constraints as determined by the project sponsor
- Critical information is communicated to the appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner
- Project effort and deliverables conform to PMO Methodologies, Standards and Processes
