Responsibilities:
JOB PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW
As a Technical Project Manager, you will report to the Senior Manager of IT Program Management and support the successful and on-time delivery of corporate initiatives that are technical in nature. These initiatives will involve software development, security enhancements, and infrastructure improvements that impact one or more functional teams. You will work closely with team managers to ensure appropriate resource allocation for each project. Additionally, you will assist in conducting risk assessments and ensure that project stakeholders are kept informed about project progress, technical challenges, and impediments.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Manage multiple concurrent midsize projects from inception to close, including discovery, planning and design, scheduling, managing scope and dependencies, mitigating risk, facilitating issue resolution, and managing escalations.
- Ensure the scope of work for projects is defined, managed, and actively communicated, minimizing scope creep, tracking variance, communicating risks and issues clearly to stakeholders, and facilitating change requests to manage budget or schedule impacts.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams, leveraging understanding of systems, software development, and infrastructure to drive project success.
- Facilitate technical discussions and drive decisions on technical issues and solutions via collaboration with technical and non-technical functional areas.
- Conduct technical risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Distill complex issues, technical considerations, and team feedback into a clear direction, formulating action plans in meetings and asynchronous updates.
- Anticipate constraints, issues, risks, and impediments, escalating as necessary and balancing business needs and technical constraints with stakeholder alignment.
- Identify, clarify, and communicate project vision, goals, and objectives and track the team’s progress utilizing key performance metrics to ensure objectivity.
- Review project deliverables to ensure they meet requirements and quality standards.
- Communicate regularly and transparently with sponsors and stakeholders to manage their expectations and keep them informed about progress and impediments.
- Participate in advancing best practices for program and project management across the organization by identifying, recommending, and driving process and tool improvements.
