We are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager for our facility in Cambridge, Ontario.
The Senior Project Manager has accountability for their assigned projects (budget, schedule, and overall customer satisfaction); and to ensure the Company’s resources are properly directed for satisfactory contract execution. The Senior Project Manager will lead projects with influence, and execute control over budgets, schedules, and non-technical communication. As a Senior Project Manager, these core responsibilities are expected to be employed with significantly more independence, and more leadership focused on mentorship and coaching of the relatively less experienced Project Managers.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead diverse, sometimes large (>15 members) teams, toward the successful execution of assigned contracts.
  • Provides effective leadership through communicating expectations and instilling accountability.
  • Directs the overall technical cost and schedule requirements on assigned contracts, including engineering and field services.
  • Interfaces with customer to ensure that contract requirements are met including cost/schedule reporting, multi-phase design reviews and other engineering deliverables.
  • Develops growth opportunities in the Nuclear Equipment business line.
  • Takes corrective action as necessary to ensure compliance with technical specifications and schedule commitments.
  • Develops proposals for component supply projects and lead technical and commercial negotiations.
  • Coordinates subcontracting efforts to ensure that any outsourced work scopes meet all technical requirements.
  • Leads negotiation of complex contract changes or claims and resolves any technical and/or commercial issues with customers and subcontractors.
  • Analyzes the requirements with the customer, determines the strategy for the proposal and develops the execution plan for the project.
  • Contributes to and reviews the project proposal or execution plan to determine timeframe, cost, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project.
  • Defines/designs activities (starting from existing solutions). Defines authority, roles and responsibilities for team members for unique requirements of the project.
  • Manages change through defined change control process for the assigned process.
  • Contributes to improving/developing systems, and with setting project evaluation parameters to improve profitability.
  • Interprets contractual requirements and negotiates minor changes to project scope or specification with the project client/customer.
  • Regularly reports project progress to senior management and/or the customer.
  • Complex change management including claim management, bonus/penalty clauses (with significant risk).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or other suitable field from an accredited university;
  • 15 years of related experience;
  • Proven mastery of project management fundamentals like, scheduling, earned-value management, budget controls, and change management;
  • Demonstratable understanding of complex contract management;
  • Proven mastery in organizing, analyzing, and presenting large and diverse data sets;
  • Demonstratable understanding, comfort and experience regarding complex and difficult client management and commitment to client relationships and mutual success;
  • Professional mastery of English, in written and verbal forms.
