Heidelberg Materials is North America’s leading supplier of cement, aggregates, ready-mix concrete, and asphalt. We have hundreds of plants and thousands of employees working across the United States and Canada. The company previously operated as Lehigh Hanson and Inland Cement before rebranding in 2023. We are a part of Heidelberg Cement Group, one of the world’s largest building materials companies.
Heidelberg Materials is developing North America’s first full-scale carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) solution for the cement industry at its Edmonton plant. Up to one million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) will be captured, transported by pipeline, and permanently sequestered in deep saline storage formations. This project will include a 120MW combined heat and power facility that will provide the heat required for the process as well as producing enough electricity for both the new and existing plant as well as exporting excess low emission electricity to the grid.
