The Faculty of Science’s organisational structure consists of two schools, two research institutes, administrative services, and Technical Services. Comprising of five discipline-based teams and an operations team, Technical Services is Faculty led, providing technical expertise and operational management for Academic Staff and students covering more than 100 teaching and research laboratories and ancillary spaces that includes a store and workshop. About the Role The Project Manager (Chemical Safety) is responsible for managing and overseeing the implementation of the recommendations in the Chemical Safety Management Plan. This involves developing and refining existing procurement processes to ensure legislative compliance and correct storage, handling use, and disposal of chemicals across the Faculty. This role will be required to operate with a high level of autonomy, with a key focus on Work, Health and Safety (WHS) knowledge and expertise. An element of flexibility will be offered for the successful incumbent to work from home 1-2 days per week in this role. As the ideal candidate, you will possess:• Knowledge of Work, Health and Safety Regulation, policies and procedures for managing compliance. • A degree with subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and specialist experience or broad knowledge in technical or administrative fields;• Project management skills including the ability to analyse issues and problems, develop solutions, and work across projects concurrently;• Highly developed interpersonal skills including, people management and building relationships with a range of stakeholders, at all levels, including negotiation and motivating academics;• Understanding of how to develop initiatives within a faculty and university environment. Remuneration & Benefits Base Salary: $134,476 to $140,880 pa (HEW 9) This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary. This position is full-time and the appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
