QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED MINIMUM

Education

  • University graduate strongly preferred
  • Post-Secondary Education

Experience

  • 5 years progressive experience working within the not-for-profit, government, social impact, education sector or a combination of the above.

Certifications

  • PMP strongly preferred
  • Project management certification

Job-Specific Knowledge and Skills N/A • Experience leading and managing diverse teams of professional and support staff required.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Strong reporting and organizational skills.
  • Ability to see both the big picture perspective and pay scrupulous attention to detail.

  • Background in the allied metals, welding and joining industry an asset.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This is a remote, work from home position, with periodic (quarterly) in person team meetings of the Foundation team.
  • Travel will be required from time to time, across Canada.
  • Access to a car and driver’s license is required

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE

The Project Manager is a member of the Foundation team and is responsible for managing the complete project lifecycle of new programs and special projects from program confirmation through development to execution and reporting, as assigned by the Manager, Program Development. This role has critical responsibilities in communications and liaison with both internal, cross-functional and departmental stakeholders to collaboratively develop project plans, including scope, timeline, partner identification, cultivation and selection, staffing support and budget, establishing KPIs, and managing workflow. A critical component of the Project Manager’s role is to lead program development and delivery, after assessing the implications of the project outcomes on the workforce. The PM will provide regular updates to all stakeholders, including formal reports to his/her direct manager to communicate progress, highlight variances against the plan and resolve collaboratively any partner or participant concerns and issues that may arise. Project assignments will include development and implementation of programs that increase the awareness and education of welding and joining, projects that are innovative in nature to encourage more individuals to explore careers in welding and other skilled trades as well as related technologies and professions. Programs include but are not limited to those with a focus on reducing barriers to participation to all demographics, under-represented groups such as women, Indigenous people, racialized, persons with disabilities, 2SLGTBQI+ communities and others, across Canada and into US and international markets.

Project Management

  • Deliver project work within scope, timeline and budget or provide detailed information to inform management when variations occur and cannot be course corrected.
  • Coordinate internal resources, contractors, and external vendors as required for successful execution of project.
  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring coordination and alignment with other members of the programs team and Foundation leadership.
  • Plan and oversee resource availability and allocation.
  • Develop a detailed project plan and track progress.
  • Manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Follow and communicate established risk management protocols, ensure partners adherence and reporting as per requirements of the program.
  • Achieve operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans, ensure timely reporting of progress, concerns, issues as per Foundation policies and procedures.
  • Live and exemplify Foundation culture and values, seek opportunities for further awareness and brand building and reputational excellence.
  • Monitor and ensure project milestones are met and that proactive corrective actions are taken on a timely basis.
  • Take ownership of program plan and lifecycle by keeping detailed change logs
  • Deliver project work within scope, timeline and budget or provide detailed information to inform management when variations occur and cannot be course corrected.
  • Support stewardship and program, project reporting as determined by Foundation leadership and contractual deliverables and impact metrics.
  • Develop and deliver materials for internal and external communications to support the project(s) assigned.
  • Act as a primary liaison with program partners to co-ordinate program related activities and events, including launch of project(s), celebrations, and supporting media and relationship building opportunities as assigned.
