Description:
Project Manager – Dam Engineering Group
D.M. Wills Associates Limited is in search of a Project Manager to join our Dam Engineering Group. The ideal candidate will have experience with managing dam-related projects and a background in structural, water resources, or geotechnical engineering.
Reporting to the Dam Engineering Group Leader you will provide project management and engineering services in support of a range of dam and water control structure projects. This work may also include work outside of the office environment, including dam inspections and other field investigations.
SIGNIFICANT QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- You must be highly motivated and an independent learner with a desire to be involved with all aspects of consulting engineering services related to dams.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (structural, water resources, or geotechnical), other relevant University or College degree/diploma, or 5 years of significant work experience in the dam engineering field.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist in Ontario, or ability to obtain within 6 months, is considered an asset.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience related to the Key Responsibilities noted above, preference is 5 years.
- Knowledge of the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) Technical Bulletins and Best Management Practices for Dams and the Canadian Dam Association (CDA) Dam Safety Guidelines and Technical Bulletins.
- Available to undertake fieldwork across Ontario.
- Hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Ontario G class driver’s license.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with colleagues and clients.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute dam related projects including dam rehabilitation or replacement designs, dam safety reviews, environmental assessments, public safety risk assessments, emergency preparedness and response plans (EPRP’s), operations, maintenance, safety, and surveillance (OMSS) manuals, and other projects as assigned.
- Provide technical expertise in your area of practice.
- Complete inspections of dams and water control structures.
- Prepare technical documentation including letters, reports, drawings, specifications, and construction contract documents.
- Contribute to business development and marketing activities for existing and new clients and undertake the preparation of technical proposals.
- Provide direction to engineering teams and maintain project quality.
