ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Nuclear Power Programmes is one of the newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power.
Operational throughout the UK and across continental Europe, we are seeking to expand our team on a variety of nuclear projects, which range in technologies and that find themselves at different stages of their development. To do this, we are seeking to continuously employ talented individuals to join our diverse team that are excited about nuclear projects and are committed to Net Zero, and Energy Security.

We are recruiting a Project Manager to lead the Enabling and Earthworks phase in our NPP Projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the successful and timely completion of all site preparation activities, from initial planning and budgeting to final handover. This role requires a strong understanding of earthworks, enabling works, project management methodologies, and a commitment to safety and quality. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and manage the Enabling and Earthworks project plan, including schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
  • Secure all necessary permits and approvals for enabling and earthworks activities.
  • Manage sub-contractors and suppliers, ensuring they meet performance and quality standards.
  • Oversee all aspects of site preparation, including excavation, grading, utility relocation, and access road construction.
  • Monitor and manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Identify and track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Report regularly on project progress, budget, and risks to stakeholders.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Manage project documentation and maintain accurate records.
  • Typically, degree educated, ideally in engineering or a related subject.
  • APMP formal project management qualification or equivalent is preferred but not essential.
  • Versed in modern project management techniques within complex, multi-functional organisations; have an understanding and knowledge of engineering, design, procurement, safety case, construction and installation/commissioning management and commercial contracting.
  • Experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry (ideally Nuclear), with a strong track record of success in enabling and earthworks projects.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in project management software, including MS Project and Primavera P6.Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
