Arrow Project Services is looking to hire a Project Manager/Estimator to join the team!

Responsibilities:
We are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager / Estimator with a solid foundation in the construction industry the successful candidate will be familiar with the structure of a contract, and heavy civil construction methods.
The candidate will contribute to the requirements for proposals and tenders as directed while working under the guidance of the Regional Manager. This is an opportunity to gain practical experience in Estimating Heavy Civil Construction Projects throughout BC but will also have the autonomy to take initiative with smaller opportunities to work independently.
An excellent communicator, the successful candidate will be able to provide support simultaneously to meet the unique needs of the client, the site team, and the office.
The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Business Development department. They can adapt quickly to the dynamic workloads associated with construction while meeting the expectations of a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of assigned construction projects from start to finish.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with all key stakeholders i.e. engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Monitor project progress and address any issues that arise promptly.
  • Ensure projects are completed within budget and adhere to all safety and quality standards.

Estimating:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment required for projects.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids and negotiate pricing to ensure competitive costs.
  • Collaborate with the project team to develop cost-effective solutions and value engineering options.
  • Ensure proper submission of tenders.

Client Relations:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate effectively to ensure client needs and expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Resolve any client concerns or issues in a timely and professional manner.

Financial Management:

  • Track project expenses and review financial reports regularly.
  • Prepare and submit progress invoices and ensure timely payment from clients.
  • Monitor and control project budgets to maximize profitability.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and motivate project teams to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff members as needed.

General:

  • Read and understand contract terms and conditions.

You Possess:

  • 5 years of relevant and proven experience in heavy civil construction in a similar capacity preferred.
  • Field experience, technical diploma, or engineering degree an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, techniques and regulations.
  • Have an understanding of typical contract models used in heavy civil construction.
  • Have a basic understanding of heavy civil construction activities, particularly around earthworks.
  • Experience working with construction estimating software. Bluebeam, Heavy Bid and Heavy Job.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and effectively manage time.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Estimating and Operations teams and all stakeholders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Strength in change management. Natural ability to adapt quickly to changes in environment and application of work.
  • Adaptable under pressure.
  • Organized and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team.
  • Proven initiative, desire to learn new tasks and to take on new responsibilities.
